Basic Travel Requirements for Malians visiting Sweden

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Swedish Visa.


  • Fully completed and signed visa application form.
  • Two recently taken passport-sized photographs (3.5x4.5cm) that meet the visa photo requirements.
  • An original Malian passport not older than 10 years, with at least three months validity beyond the date you plan to leave Sweden. Your passport should have at least 2 blank pages for visas.
  • Onward or return ticket.
  • A valid medical insurance policy with a minimum coverage of €30,000 in case of any medical emergency such as illnesses, accidents and even repatriation in case of death.
  • For minors, the application form must be signed by the parents/legal guardians accompanied by a signed consent form.  
  • Minors are also required to present their original birth certificate as well as a valid means of identification of their parents.
  • For Non-Malians, a valid residence permit to prove residence in Mali is required.
  • A document that shows where you will be accommodated throughout your stay in Sweden.
  • Letter of invitation from a host if you intend to stay with the host in Sweden.
  • Evidence that you have enough money to support yourself financially throughout your stay in Sweden.
  • Documentation proving status in Mali either as an employee, student or business owner.
  • A cover letter detailing the purpose, duration and any other necessary information about the trip.
  • Proof of paid visa fee.
