Basic Travel Requirements for Mauritanians visiting Netherlands
Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Dutch Visa.
- Original Mauritania International passport which has at least two blank pages for stamps and has a minimum validity of three months before the visa applicant’s planned exit from the country. The passport must have been issued within the last 10 years.
- Previously issued visas and copies of all pages with entry and exit stamps.
- Completed and signed visa downloaded application form. Everyone traveling to the Netherlands requires a separate visa application irrespective they are accompanying a visa applicant.
- Two passport-sized photographs showing the full-face of the visa applicant. The passport must be taken in a light background and must bear a clear resemblance to the visa applicant.
- Bank statement from the applicant’s bank in Mauritania from the previous three months prior to visa application.
- Valid travel insurance which is valid for the duration of your stay in the Schengen area. The insurance must have at least €30,000of medical costs which include hospital care, emergency treatment, and repatriation.
- Proof of accommodation
- Proof of civil status like marriage certificate, birth certificate of children, death certificate of spouse, ration card if applicable.
- Payment of the visa application fees. If you make your application through an external service provider, you pay the costs.
- Hotel reservation for the duration of your stay in the Netherlands.
- Travel itinerary.
- Proof of sufficient financial means that will cover your stay throughout time you will stay in Netherland.

Netherlands Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- The visa is issued to foreigners traveling to Netherland to conduct business and/or commercial purposes.
- The people who are going for meetings, trainings, conferences, trade fairs, etc... are required to apply for this visa.
- The visa is issued a short-stay visa with the validity of 3months.
- If you are to stay longer than 3 months in Netherland, you are to apply for a long-stay visa otherwise known as Authorization for temporary stay(MVV)
- You cannot be paid for work you did or any organization you attend when you traveled with this visa.
- You are required to apply for a work permit if you wanted to be paid for service you rendered or for work.
- You are to provide an official invitation letter from the company you will be visiting in the Netherland. If you will be attending an event, trade fair or conference, an invitation for such event should be provided.
- Evidence of business relationships such as contracts, invoices, proof of imports, etc between the companies involved should be provided.
- Foreigners making the trip to the Netherlands for the purpose of cultural, sports, research or vocational training purposes are required to provide a document from the organizer of the cultural, sports, research or vocational training event in the Netherlands.
- The name of the invited applicant, his/her status, the purpose of the trip and the duration of the trip must be stated.
- You are required to provide a document from your employer stating your job position, salary level, and duration of your trip. This document should also state clearly who will be responsible for your travel expenses.
- Non-Mauritanians residing in Mauritania and are applying for the visa from Mauritania are should ensure that they are in possession of a valid Mauritanian residence card with a validity of at least three months after the intended departure date from the Netherlands.
- Ensure you leave sufficient time gap between the appointment date and the travel date to have their visa application processed.
- If you are employed, you are to provide an employment letter, current bank statement from the last six months, leave permission from your employer, and Income Tax Return(ITR) form or Certificate of Income Tax deducted at the source of salary.
- If you are a self-employed Mauritanian or non-Mauritanian who reside in Mauritania, you are required to provide a copy of your business license, your company's last six months' bank statement and ITR certificate.
- A retiree Mauritanian should provide their statement of Pension from the last six months.
Netherlands Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- The Tourist Visa is granted to Mauritanians visiting the Netherlands for the purpose of leisure sightseeing, vacation, honeymoon, and all other tourism activities.
- You must provide original and a copy of every document you will submit to either embassy or consulate you are applying for the visa.
- The visa is valid for 90 days issued as a short-stay visa to all foreigners.
- All documents are to be presented in or translated to Dutch, English, French or Spanish.
- Minors who will be traveling to the Netherlands alone or with one of their parents are required to present a copy of their unabridged birth certificate.
- If you are to stay longer than 3 months in Netherland, you are to apply for a long-stay visa otherwise known as Authorization for temporary stay(MVV)
- An identity document (one for each parent) which has the parents’ signature should be provided. The identity document should be accompanied by a declaration of consent from both parents which confirms the allowance of the minors’ travel.
- Applicants are required to provide evidence of their legal residence in Mauritania.
- Non-Mauritanians are required to provide a copy of their Mauritania residence card. The residence card must have a validity of three months after the expiry of the visa that the applicant applied for.
- The Netherland Tourist visa being a Schengen visa, makes the holder of this visa liable to enter other Schengen States having initially been to Netherland.
- If your residence card has expired, you are required to present a letter stating that you have re-applied for a new residence card and it has not been issued.
- Documents proving that the purpose of your visit to the Netherlands is purely for touristic purposes should be provided.
- Travelers are required to provide proof that they will return to their country after the expiry of their visa.
- Fingerprints must be captured at the visa application center. The fingerprint capture has a validity of 5 years.
- Applicants who do not submit all the necessary documents during the visa application process may have their visa application rejected.
Netherlands Transit Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- This visa allows foreign citizens to transit through the international areas of the airports in the Schengen area without leaving the airport.
- Holders of this visa can board another flight in the Netherlands to their destination country.
- If your transit consists of more than two stops through the Schengen area, you are required to apply for the Schengen visa instead of the Transit Visa, even if you will not be leaving the transit zone of the airport.
- Just like any other visa types, this visa is charged 60euro with the validity of 24 hours at the ports.
- Travelers who possess a valid visa or residence permit issued by a Schengen member state do not require the Transit Visa.
- Holders of the diplomatic passport are exempted from acquiring a Transit Visa.
- Crewmembers of an aircraft and a national of a country that is a party to the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation do not require a visa.
- If you are under the age of 18 years, it is mandatory that you present the original copy of your birth certificate. A declaration of consent from both your parents should also be provided.
- A visa which allows you entry to the country of your destination should be provided.
- Your visa fee will not be refunded should your visa application is refused or unapproved.
