El Salvador Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Tourist visa is issued to individuals who want to travel to El Salvador for tourism, visit or leisure purposes
  • The visa is valid for 90 days and as such is called a short stay visa
  • It is strictly for recreation and relaxation and cannot be used to study or work
  • You are required be have a stay permit at all time to avoid embarrassment by the local police
  • Festivals and events can be attended by holders of this visa
  • A proof of all payments made is required for effective processing of the visa
  • Invitation letter from the applicant’s host in El-Salvador stating the purpose of visit and duration of stay should be provided

  • Business visa is issued to those who intend to go to El Salvador for commercial and trade activities
  • It can also serve in business meetings, conferences or to carrying out business purchases
  • An invitation letter from the business partner in El Salvador is required. The business letter must meet the following requirements
    • It should be printed on the company’s letter headed paper
    • It should specify the exact purpose of the trip
    • It should state if it is the host or applicant that will take care of expenses during the trip
    • It should contain full details of the inviting party (name, phone number, address, official stamp, signature of the legal representative of the entity)
  • For the employed, an official letter from the employer stating that the applicant is allowed to be on the trip and will return by or before the expiration of the visa 
  •  Original and photocopy of business registration certificate and tax clearance are required during the visa application for owners of personal businesses.
  • Holders of the visa are neither allowed to take up any form of employment nor are they allowed to study
  • If both parties(host and invitee) have been engaged in a previous business, a proof of that transaction is required
  • Application fee must be paid in full before visa can be processed.
  • The applicant must possess valid travel insurance.
  • The applicant might be invited by the consul for a physical interview if necessary
  • Note that application forms not properly filled will not be attended to
