Entry Requirements

  • Mauritius citizens visiting Maldives can be granted visa on arrival for a maximum duration  of 30 days.
  • Visitors are expected to present an original passport with at least one blank page for visa stamps.
  • The passport must be valid within the duration of stay stipulated in the visa application form.
  •  Proof of  onward/return tickets is required from visitors entering Maldives. 
  • Visas are issued on arrival at the immigration desk of Malé International Airport.
  • A proof of sufficient funds (US$ 100 per day) is also required for entry.
  • Visitors are to have a confirmed  accommodation/hotel reservation for the intended duration of stay in Maldives.
  • Visitors are required to present a certificate of Yellow Fever vaccination at entry.
  • Vaccinations against Typhoid, Hepatitis A/B, Tuberculosis and Tetanus are generally recommended for visitors.
  • Opium, marijuana, cocaine, pornographic materials and stories, idols, fire arms, alcoholic drinks and pork are prohibited.
  • The Dhivehins  are not allowed to take alcohol. However, visitors who are above 18 and are not Muslims can buy and drink alcohol.
  • It is illegal to bring dogs into Maldives. Other pets must have a valid veterinary certificate and a certificate of vaccination from probable animal diseases.
  • There are no currency restrictions on entry and exit from Maldives.
  • Visitors are not required to pay any departure tax upon exit  from the airport.

Due to the hot weather all year around, T-shirts and cotton clothing are most suitable and dress is generally casual. In Malé and other inhabited islands however, it is recommended that women wear modest clothing. Nudism and topless sunbathing are prohibited in the Maldives.
