Intercape formally called "Central Bus Service" was founded in 1971 by Johan Ferreira with the aim of starting a passenger bus company with one bus as at that time. In 1975, they expanded to 5 buses and changed its name to "Windhoek bus service". In 1979, Ferreira started a second passenger bus company in Cape town in South Africa and called it "Intercape".

The company operated a shuttle service at first but since it obtained intercity permits in 1989, they transport passengers between Southern African countries. In 2008, Johan Ferreira Jr bought 100% shares of Intercape from the Ferreira family trust and took over the management of the company with the aim to provide a safe, dependable and affordable road transport services to passengers throughout Southern Africa.

Can i take an extra luggage than the allowed amount?


Luggage over 20kg or 30kg for cross border routes will be weighed on intercape''s scale and an additional fee per kilogram will be charged for the extra luggage.

May i take hand luggage with me?


Hand luggage are allowed but the larger ones must be carried in the luggage compartment or trailer to avoid obstruction of other passengers.

What are the different ticket classes and how do ticket classes differ?


Intercape offers 3 different ticket classes which are Saver, Flexi and Full flexi. Saver ticket offers the best fares but have limited availability and are more restrictive when it comes to cancelling and changing of bookings made. Flexi and Full Flexi offers more flexibility services but are more expensive than Saver ticket.

What facilities are available on the coach?


All travelling coach are equipped with toilets, air-conditioning, individual reading lights, reclining seats and an on-board audio/video entertainment.

Do you provide food and drinks on board?


Food and drinks are not provided on-board but stop are made on the way to ensure all commuters purchase the necessary things they need.
