Basic Travel Requirements for Namibians visiting Germany
Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a German Visa.
- Passport with a validity of more than 6 months from the intended period of exiting the country. Your passport must have at least two blank pages.
- 2 photos must be attached; the photo should be of passport format – a recent whole-face capture with a light background.
- Your passport and copies of your previous visas – valid for at least 3 months beyond return date – are required.
- Travel health insurance confirmation of minimum 30,000 € coverage within Germany and the entire Schengen area.
- A cover letter stating the purpose of a visit to Germany and itinerary.
- Flight Itinerary with dates and flight numbers specifying entry and exit from Germany.
- Hotel Booking for the whole duration of the intended stay in Germany.
- Proof of civil status (marriage certificate, birth certificate of children, death certificate of spouse, ration card if applicable).
- Means of subsistence – Proof of sufficient financial means for the period of stay. According to the European Commission information, a foreign applicant applying for a German visa, must be able to attest possessing 45€/day to the German Embassy or Consulate for the period of stay in German territory.

Germany Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- The German Business Visa is issued to Namibians who intend to travel to Germany to engage in any form of business activity such as a business meeting, business summit, trade fair or other related activities.
- Invitation letter from the German company you will be visiting and their detailed address accompanied with the dates of your visit
- A certificate from your employer stating/allowing your business travel
- If there were previous trade relations between the two companies, proof of such events must be provided
- Business bank statement of the latest 6 months
- Memorandum and Article of Association in original certified copy (registered with joint-stock companies) Trade License (first issued and present renewal), Proprietorship/Partnership documents
- Regarding the applicant’s expenses during stay in the Schengen zone, either the employer or the partner company must state coverage of expenses on the letter or invitation.
- Receipt of paid visa application fee is required
- You are required to provide the original copies of all documents with clear double-sided photocopies at the embassy. You should NOT staple the documents together.
- If you are self-employed, you should submit proof of business certification such as the Business License and the company's certified bank account statements for the last three months.
Germany Medical Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Fully completed application form.
- Two passport photographs. These photos should be identical and taken within the last three months according to visa photo requirements.
- Valid passport. Your passport should be no older than 10 years, and with a validity of three months beyond your planned date of return to your home country. It should also have a blank page for the visa sticker.
- A copy of your passport’s data page (A4 size copy).
- Europe Travel Health Insurance. A letter issued by your health insurance company that confirms you have travel insurance, which covers any medical emergency or hospitalization with a minimum of €30,000.
- Flight reservation, rail tickets, others.
- Leave letter of your company. If you are an employee, you should submit this letter by your employer, which confirms the dates of your leave.
- Documents confirming the applicant’s need for health treatment, as follows:
- - Certificate from a medical doctor confirming the need of specific medical treatment in Germany
- - Certificate from a medical doctor confirming that necessary treatment can be provided by a clinic/hospital in Germany
- - Proof of an appointment made at this clinic/hospital
- - Proof of advance payment of the treatment / financial arrangements with the medical doctor in Germany
- - Correspondence between the sending medical doctor and the receiving medical doctor
- - confirmed Accommodation in the Medical Clinic
- Proof of accommodation. If you are going to stay at a hospital throughout your whole period in Germany, you should submit a confirmation by this hospital to prove that. If not, then you should submit either a hotel booking, an invitation letter by a German host or a rental contract, where you will be staying.
- Proof of civil status: Marriage certificate, birth certificate of children, death certificate of spouse, ration card if applicable
- Proof of financial status: You will have to submit proof you are capable of covering any other expenses. You can do so through a bank statement or letter of sponsorship through which another party confirms they will be covering your expenses. According to your employment status, you also need to submit:
- Payslips of the past three months, employment contract and leave permission.
- Certificate of Proprietorship or other proof of ownership for business owners.
- Proof of enrollment and no objection letter from the university for students
- Pension statement of the latest 6 months for retired applicants.
- On the other hand, if you are applying to get a visa for a minor who needs medical services offered in Germany, you should also submit the following documents:
- Birth Certificate. Provide this certificate in original, accompanied with a copy.
- Letter of Consent from the other parent. A formal document from the other parent translated in English or German language and notarized, stating he/she has no objection about their child travelling with you only.
- Letter of Consent from both parents. A formal document from you and the other parent of your child, translated in a English or German language and notarized, stating they have no objection about your child travelling with a third person, if applicable.
- Death certificate of the other parent. In case the other parent of your child has passed away.
Germany Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Two recently taken biometric portrait photographs.
- Proof of admission into a study program.
- Letter of admission in foundation course.
- Authenticated certificates of earlier education.
- Recognized foreign academic qualification. You must show you have a qualification equally recognized as the German Abitur.
- Academic records or transcript.
- Evidence of previous and current internship and work experiences, if any.
- Means of subsistence. The evidence you provide must show you have enough money to cover living, accommodation and study costs.
- Letter of declaration by a parent. It has to show their commitment to support you financially during your stay here. It must be supplemented by their bank statements of the latest 6 months.
- Covered health insurance. It must have coverage of at least 30,000 EUR and it must be valid for at least 3 months.
- Motivational letter. You’ll have to express the reason for choosing the specific university, study program. Mention also your study and future plans and how these studies will be improving your career and life.
- Marriage certificate. (This if you’re married). Support that with a birth certificate of any child (If related).
- Proof of having paid the visa application fee. The fee is 60 EUR.
- Proof of German language proficiency. (For German-only and mixed-language study programs).
- Proof of English language proficiency. (For English and mixed-language study programs).
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Accepted results are PBT (paper-based test) 550 Points, CBT (computer-based test) 213 Points and IbT (internet-based test) 79-80 Points.
- The International English Language Testing System(IELTS). Accepted scores by German universities are 5 – 6.5.
- As a holder of a German student visa, you may work for up to 120 working days/year, even if you are already working part-time in an academic institution where you are studying. Your work must not interfere with your study progress.
- With a German student visa, you will be able to remain in Germany for the initial 3 months. Within this period, you will be required to apply for a residence permit to study. The maximum period you will be receiving through such residence permit is 2 years. You will also be given an opportunity to extend the residence permit, depending on the length of your studies.
Germany Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Namibians who intend to travel to Germany for tourism, sightseeing, and other leisure activities require a German tourist visa. This visa grants a stay of not more than 90 days in the country.
- Passport size photographs. Please note that these photos should be identical and fulfil the visa photo requirements as set by the Schengen states.
- Valid national passport. The passport should be no older than ten years and have at least one blank page in order to be able to affix the visa sticker on it and fulfil the other passport requirements.
- Personal bank statements for the last three months.
- Schengen Travel Insurance. You should submit a confirmation letter from your health insurance stating coverage for emergency medical treatment with a minimum of €30,000.
- Proof of accommodation. This can be a hotel booking for your whole stay in Germany, or a letter of invitation by a family member or friend residing in any of the Schengen countries.
- Proof of flight reservation.
- Proof of financial means. This could be a bank statement not older than three months or a letter of sponsorship by another person.
- Leave letter of your company (if employed).
- No-objection certificate.
- If you are a student, your school or university should issue this certificate to you.
- If you are an employee, your employer or the company where you work at should issue this letter to you.
- If you are not a student and you do not work either, this certificate is not required.
- A Cover Letter. This personal cover letter should explain the reason why you wish to visit Germany, how long you intend to remain there, and what you will be doing there, amongst others.
- Invitation Letter. A letter of invitation from the person the applicant is visiting in Germany, which may take the form of sponsorship or private accommodation. The invitation letter should also include the address, period of stay and contact details of the host.
- Proof of civil status. That could be a marriage certificate, birth certificate of children.
- For minors:
- - If travelling unaccompanied by parents, consent letter signed by both parents
- - Form signed by both parents
- - Copy of the parent's passports data page
