Basic Travel Requirements for New Zealanders visiting India
Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Indian Visa.
- An original New Zealander passport including one copy of the personal information page of your passport is required.
- The Consulate of India requires a visa application form that is completed online
- Digital photo of yourself – ensure that the photo is recent. You should not make face gestures in it, and the background should be white.
- Your passport must:
- Be valid for six months beyond the validity of your requested visa
- Contain at least two blank visa pages for the visa stamp (amendments and endorsement pages cannot be used to fulfill this requirement)
- Not be frayed, torn, separating, or altered in any other way
- You are required to have two colors, passport-type photographs that meet the following criteria:
- Be taken within the last three months and printed on high-quality photo paper
- Be taken against an all-white background
- Be two inches by two inches
- Provide the full frontal view of your head with your face centered in the middle and displaying a neutral (non-smiling) expression
- You may wear neither eyeglasses nor headwear except for religious purposes
- Your photos should not be affixed to your application and it may not display evidence of adhesive tape or staples
- Glasses cannot be worn in photographs.
- Visa fee payment.
- Flight itinerary.
- Ensure that you determine the type of visa you are applying for.
- Applicants of this visa can stay just for 90 days in India.
- Proof of hotel reservations/accommodation.

General Requirements for India Visa

India Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- This visa is eligible for New Zealanders traveling to India for sightseeing, visitation or tourism.
- An original New Zealander passport and one photocopy of passport information and signature page are required.
- This passport must be signed, valid for 6 months beyond stay in India, with at least two blank passport pages available for India visa stamps.
- The Consulate of India requires a visa application form that is completed online. Your application must:
- Display your name exactly as it appears in your passport
- Include answers to all fields
- Type of visa and length of validity requested must match listing on all other documentation.
- Be signed on the first page under the photo, and on the second page. In order to be accepted, all signatures must:
- Match the signature in your passport
- Be in the middle of the box. they cannot touch the edges of the box or run out of the box
- Include your email address on the online application.
- An application missing a personal email address will be rejected by the consulate
- Be printed on single-sided sheets of paper(Double-sided applications will be rejected). You must fully print the bar code on the bottom of page 1
- Your passport will be shipped back to the address indicated on your application under "Present Address."
- Tourist visas are single-entry visas and they are valid for up to 3 months (90 days).

- A clear photocopy of the applicant's driver's license or state-issued ID is the best proof of address.

India Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- A business visa is strictly given to those who would like to make a business-related trip to India.
- An applicant going for employment in contact/projects in India needs to apply for an Employment visa, and not a business visa.
- Spouse and dependent family members accompanying the applicant must apply for an Entry visa, not a tourist visa.
- A letter of invitation on the company letterhead from the sponsoring company in India is required.
- This letter must be signed by an appropriate person in the inviting company, such as HR, Executive, or inviting business contact.
- The invitation letter must explain the relationship to the applicant and the purpose of travel.
- Information on this letter must correspond exactly with the information provided on the visa application form and supporting documents and must be signed and sealed on company letterhead by the host in India.
- A cover letter from the employer or sponsoring company in New Zealand is required.
- This letter must be signed by an appropriate person in the applicant's company, such as Hr, Executive or direct
- The business letter must introduce the applicant, indicate the applicant's employment status/position held in the company, and clearly state the purpose of the visit to India.
- Detailed contact information for the organizations to be visited must be included.
- The business letter must also state the validity of the visa applied for (1 Year, 5 Year or 10 Year) and indicate who will be financially responsible for the applicant.
- For 5 year or 10 year requests, the letter must explain the need for future trips planned; visa validity will be granted at the discretion of the consulate.
- Information on this letter must correspond exactly with the information provided on the visa application form and all supporting documents.
- A clear photocopy of the applicant's driver's license or state-issued ID is the best proof of state residency and this is required.
India Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- A valid New Zealander passport and valid Indian study visa are required for enrolled study in India.
- You are expected to submit original signed letters and documents. The consulate will not accept copies.
- A letter of acceptance from a recognized Indian educational institution with a registration number in India confirming admission, duration snd details of the course as well as financial arrangements for the student while in India.
- In case of admission in medical or paramedical courses in India, a letter of Approval or No objection certificate from the Ministry of Health, Government of India, is also required.
- In case of admission to graduate or post-graduate courses in engineering or technical institutions in India, a letter of approval or a No objection certificate from the Ministry of Human Resources Development (Department of Education) is required.
- You are required to provide proof that you possess sufficient funds. Your financial details must include your three most recent bank statements.
- An original New Zealander passport and one photocopy of passport information and signature page are required.
- This passport must be signed, valid for 6 months beyond stay in India, with at least two blank passport pages available for India visa stamps.

India Work Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- An employment letter is granted to n employee or paid intern of an Indian company or persons traveling to Indian for volunteer work with a Non-Government Organisation (NGO).
- You are required to provide an original Business Cover Letter from your New Zealand based company. All letters must be printed on the company letterhead that displays a New Zealander mailing address.
- A letter provided by the applicant's employer certifying that the applicant has been offered a position with the company and outlining the nature and duration of the position and salary.
- A letter provided by the employer certifying that the applicant is a skilled and qualified professional, technical expert, senior executive or in a managerial position.
- This letter should also justify how these skills are not available in India.
- An original New Zealander passport and one photocopy of passport information and signature page are required.
- This passport must be signed, valid for 6 months beyond stay in India, with at least two blank passport pages available for India visa stamps.

India Medical Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- A Medical Visa is given to New Zealanders seeking medical treatment in reputed/recognized specialized hospitals/treatment centers in India.
- Up to two attendants who are blood relatives are allowed to accompany the applicant under separate Medical Attendant visas. This visa is not applicable to surrogacy.
- A certificate of preliminary medical advice from the country of origin/country of residence that shows the applicant has been advised to go for specialized medical treatment. In cases where the applicant desires to go for treatment under the Indian system of Medicine, the case may also be considered.
