Basic Travel Requirements for Rwandans visiting Brunei Darussalam

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Bruneian Visa.


  • Your original Rwandan passport that's valid for at least 6 months from the intended trip date. It should have at least two blank pages for visa stamp.
  • Duly filled and signed visa application form.
  • Receipt of paid visa application.
  • Two recent coloured passport-sized photographs that meet the visa photo specification.
  • Copy of travel itinerary.
  • Valid travel insurance.
  • For minors, a certified unabridged birth certificate accompanied with a signed letter of consent from their parents is needed.
  • Round trip or onward ticket.
  • Proof of accommodation.
  • Proof of financial capability for the duration of trip.
  • Cover letter detailing the trip.
  • Entry will be denied to you if you're a citizen of Israel. Recent visitors to Israel won't be denied entry.
  • There's no Brunei Darussalam embassy in Rwanda. The visa applications can go through the British embassy in Kigali.
  • The visa is given at the point of entry into the country but a visa letter which serves as a pre-entry approval has to be gotten first.

Brunei is a tiny nation in Asia popular for its beaches and biodiverse rainforest. The beaches allow tourists to perform activities like water sports and scuba diving. Citizens of Laos, Malaysia, New Zealand, Oman, Singapore, South Korea, Turkey, Ukraine, and UAE can visit Brunei without a visa for a period of 30 days. Nationals of Cambodia, Japan, Canada, Russia, and Costa Rica can visit the country without a visa for up to 14 days.

What happens if I overstay my visa?

The Brunei Darussalam authority  takes immigration offences very serious such that if you overstay your visa, you might be punished with jail-term, a fine or even flogging.


Can I enter Brunei with the pre-entry approval?

No, the pre-entry approval isn't a guarantee for you to enter Brunei Darussalam. The grant of entry to Brunei Darussalam will be determined based on the assessment by the Department of Immigration and National Registration officers at the point of entry.


Can I drink alcohol in Brunei?
