- Rwandans traveling to Bulgaria for the purpose of tourism, sightseeing, relaxation of any form or visiting relative and friends can apply for the Bulgarian tourist visa.
- The Bulgarian tourist visa is a short-stay visa that will enable you spend a period of time (usually ninety days).
- In the event that the applicant is going to Bulgaria for the purpose of meeting with a relative or friend, they should present an invitation letter showing the contact details and the purpose of visit, duration of visit and address of accommodation. The invitation letter should be duly signed and dated.
- Applicant should also show evidence of the status of the Bulgarian host, which can either be a copies of passport or residency permit.
- Applicants should bear in mind that under Bulgarian Law they are required to contact their local police station within 48 hours of arrival in and present in writing the address at which they will be staying. If they are staying in a hotel or private lodgings, the hotel management/host bear the obligation to register them at the local police station.
- Travelers are required to provide proof of sufficient funds. The proof must be in a form of a copy of a statement from the bank, showing evidence of financial capability or funds covering period of stay in Bulgaria, which translates to sixty euros daily.
- Travelers are also required to provide a valid medical insurance or travel insurance covering the entire duration of stay in Bulgaria.
- Foreigners entering Bulgarian territory on a motor vehicle have to present a document of ownership for that vehicle, if such ownership is not explicitly shown in the vehicle's registration documents.

- For under-aged children travelling without their parents or trustees the following documents shall be submitted:
- a copy of the birth certificate

- The Bulgarian business visa is for Rwandans visiting Bulgaria for business purposes. It permits applicants to participate in various forms of business related events such as product inspection, conference and meeting.
- There tire two types of Bulgarian business visa:
- Short-stay 'Type C' business visa- this visa is a multi-entries visa and it allows a stay of 90 days in Bulgaria.
- Long-stay 'Type D' business visa- this visa is granted either for 6 or 12 months.

- The most convenient way for a traveler to obtain a Type D Bulgarian Business visa, and eventually a Bulgarian residence permit is by registering a trade representative office in Bulgaria. The trade representative office is regulated by the Investment Promotion Act (IPA) of Bulgaria.
- A FBI check, legalized with an “apostille” is required.
- Proof of housing/accommodation must be provided. When applying for D visa, a notarized declaration from the owner is requested as well, stating that they agree that the applicant will be registered on this address at the police office
