Basic Travel Requirements for Rwandans visiting Guadeloupe
Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Guadeloupian Visa.
- The first thing you want to do is to set up an appointment with the French diplomatic office. Please know that in this appointment, you would be submitting all your documents
- Note:You are to arrive at the French Diplomatic Office at least 15 minutes earlier than your scheduled appointment time. Persons are not to be accompanied, only when they are children below the age of 18 or, individuals who need special assistance. If you do not make it to appear in time, you cannot reschedule the same appointment and you can schedule a new one only after a day (24 hrs). If you are applying as a family, each family member must schedule its own individual appointment.
- A properly completed application form which can be filled out in a printed version, or electronically and printed after that. In both cases it needs to be signed by the applicant in order to be considered authentic(If the applicant is under the age of 18, parents or guardian is the authorized person to sign the application form).
- Two Recently Made Passport Photographs which are French Visa Photo Requirements and other Specifications.
- A Valid Passport with at least three months beyond the return date and at least two blank pages.
- Note: Rules of entry and stay in France might change depending if you possess a regular, a diplomatic or an official duty passport
- Proof of address which could be a copy of the lease agreement or deed of apartment/house. Bills such as electricity, water, cable, or, other regular bills are accepted
- A Proof of A Booked Round-Trip Flight Ticket with Travel Itinerary;the French diplomatic office will only require you to present a copy of a booked round-trip flight ticket, instead of buying the actual flight ticket before obtaining the visa.
- Note: The French Embassy or Consulate might require from you to present the actual round-trip flight ticket the moment of issuing a French Visa.
- Proof of A Travel Visa Insurance confirming document offering the information that you have at your disposition at least 30,000€ coverage within France and the entire Schengen Area for any cases of emergency during your trip
- A one or two-page document signed by the applicant, stating the purpose of your visit to France, including the travel program. This is a separate written or printed sheet, where you include information about the days of travel, about means of transportation, destinations, addresses and so on.
- Note: If the applicant is a businessman or self-employed, when applying for a tourist visa, covering letter can be required on a company letterhead.
- Proof of A Booked Accomodation for the Period of Stay in France.
- Proof of the Civil Status;Marriage certificate, child’s birth certificate, spouse’s death certificate, ration card if applicable.
- Proof of sustenance to cope with the living costs during for the period of stay.
- Note: The signed application form must be accompanied by the rest of the above-mentioned required documents and handed personally at the French embassy in Rwanda
- Failure to provide all necessary documents will lead to an unsuccessful visa application, postponement or rejection.

Guadeloupe Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Invitation letter from your family or friends in Guadeloupe with their address and phone number
- Bank statement for the last 6 months
- Passport copies
- You are not allowed to take up any employments pending your stay in Guadeloupe
Guadeloupe Medical Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- This visa type is for foreigners who need to enter and stay in Guadeloupe temporarily to get medical treatment in a medical institution located in Guadeloupe. Typically this visa type is issued to foreigners who cannot get the appropriate healthcare in their home country.
- Apart from the general requirements, the following are the specific additional documents to apply for this French visa type:
- A Letter of invitation from the medical institution, or, A Formal Agreement of the hospital in Guadeloupe for Patient’s Admission. Both documents must include information such as the aim of the foreign patient’s consult, his/her current diagnosis, the therapy to take, the length of the therapy, appointment date, medical costs, the doctor in charge, and so on.
- For critical or emergency cases, the invitation letter must be enclosed together with a formal confirmation from the medical institution – stating the readiness to treat the patient on a specific date of arrival.
- Evidence of a Prepaid or Covered Medical Treatment
- Payment receipt of medical fees from the Hospital in Guadeloupe. A letter affirming the costs of the patient’s treatment is already covered.
- Detailed information on medical treatment fee issued by the medical institution’s financial department (for uncovered medical treatment)
- A bank transfer slip confirming the payment of a medical treatment fee (for prepaid medical treatment of the applicant)
- A guarantee letter from the applicant.
- An affirmation certificate to assure the patient’s capacity to cope with the extra medical costs (when expecting unforeseen costs of medical treatment to happen)
- Verbal note from the Rwandan embassy in France, or, Verbal Note from the Rwandan Ministry of Health
- The formal document must declare the readiness of the relevant government of the applicant’s home country to cover his medical treatment costs (for covered medical treatment by the Government of Rwanda)
- A Letter of Confirmation from the Employer i.e. A Bank Statement of the Employer, a letter confirming the employer’s financial capability to cover his employee’s medical treatment in a French territory (for covered medical treatment by the Employer of the applicant)
- Birth Certificate (if the applicant is a minor) provided in original accompanied with a copy
- Letter of Consent from the Other Parent (for a minor applicant traveling with one parent). A formal document from a parent, translated in a French language and notarized, stating he/she has no objection about his child traveling
- Letter of Consent from both parents (for a minor applicant travelling with a third person). A formal document from both parents, translated in a French language and notarized, stating they have no objection about their child travelling.
- Copies of Valid French overseas department Visas (of accompanying parent, parents or third person of a minor).
- Medical Report from A Doctor In Charge Of Treatment in Rwanda
- Confirmed Hotel Reservation or Confirmed Accommodation in the Medical Clinic (for accompanying persons of the applicant).
- A certificate from the national medical authority for the incapacity of the country to offer the appropriate medical treatment for the applicant’s condition.
- Registration Certificate of the patient in the national list for organs and cornea transplant issued by the medical and surgical team performing the transplant (In case of transplant).
Guadeloupe Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- An enrolment certificate allowing attendance of courses

- Holders of this visa type are not allowed to take up employment
Guadeloupe Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Invitation letter from the company in Guadeloupe you will be visiting and their detailed address accompanied with the dates of your visit
- A certificate from your employer stating/allowing your business travel
- If there were previous trade relations between the two companies, proof of such events must be provided
- Business bank statement for the last 6 months
- Memorandum and Article of Association in original certified copy (registered with joint-stock companies) Trade License (first issued and present renewal), Proprietorship/Partnership documents
- Regarding the applicant’s expenses during stay in Guadeloupe, either the employer or the partner company must state coverage of expenses on the letter or invitation.
