Basic Travel Requirements for Rwandans visiting Iceland
Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Icelander Visa.
- Fill it completely and with sincerity. You can also fill the Schengen Visa application form electronically and then print a hard-copy.
- 2 photos must be attached; the photo should be of passport format – a recent whole-face capture with a light background
- Your passport and copies of your previous visas – valid for at least 3 months beyond the return date – are required. Your passport must have at least two blank pages.
- Travel health insurance confirmation of a minimum of 30,000 € coverage within Iceland and the entire Schengen area.
- A cover letter stating the purpose of your travel to Iceland and itinerary
- Flight Itinerary with dates and flight numbers specifying entry and exit from Iceland
- Hotel reservations for the whole duration of the intended stay in Iceland.
- Proof of civil status (marriage certificate, birth certificate of children, death certificate of spouse, ration card if applicable)
- Proof of sufficient financial means for the period of stay in Iceland.
- As the European Commission communicates, a foreign national, according to the Icelandic Law when applying for an Icelandic Visa, must attest owning an amount of subsistence of 4,000 ISK or 28.83€/day to the Icelandic Embassy or Consulate. While the amount of money required for each entry to the territory of Iceland is 20,000 ISK or 144.13€.

Iceland Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Visa application form. Fully completed with correct information, printed and signed at the end.
- Two recent photos. Taken within the last three months, in compliance with the Schengen visa photo criteria.
- Valid passport. No older than ten years and with a minimum validity of three months beyond your planned stay in Schengen. It must have at least two blank pages in order to be able to affix the visa sticker.
- Roundtrip reservation or itinerary. A document that includes dates and flight numbers specifying entry and exit from the Schengen area.
- Travel Health Insurance. Evidence that you have purchased health insurance that covers medical emergencies with a minimum of €30,000, for your whole period of stay.
- Proof of accommodation. Evidence that shows where you will be staying throughout your time in Schengen. This could be a hotel
- Letter of tour organizer If you will be traveling with a tour agency.
- Proof of financial means. Evidence that shows you have enough money to support yourself throughout your stay in Schengen. This could be a bank account statement.

- Proof that you have the financial resources to sponsor your studies and entire stay in Iceland, you must provide recent payslips and certified bank account statements for the last 3 months. If someone else will be sponsoring your study/research, you should instead provide a letter signed by the sponsor and a copy of their passport showing their signature.
Iceland Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Iceland Business Visa Application form. Printed twice and signed at the end.
- Two passport-size photographs. Make sure your photos comply with the rest of the Schengen Visa photo guidelines and specifications.
- Your valid passport. With at least two blank pages, a minimum validity of three more months beyond the date you leave Iceland and issued within the last 10 years.
- Copy of passport pages.
- Complete travel itinerary for your trip to Iceland. This document must contain your flight name, departure/arrival timings along with dates, your flight code, and your flight reservation/booking numbers.
- Travel Medical Insurance that covers your entire stay in Iceland. For any health incident in Iceland and the whole Schengen area, with a minimum coverage of €30,000.
- Proof of employment status. As an employment contract, bank statements, etc.
- Proof of financial means. Bank statements confirming you have a minimum of 145€ per each entry, and around 29€ per each day that you plan to spend in Iceland.
- A cover letter from the sending organization/company containing the following details:
- Your name and designation
- An outline of your itinerary, the purpose of visit, names, and addresses of the companies you intend to visit, period and place of the intended stay.
- A signed invitation letter from the company in Iceland containing your name, purpose of visit, dates of the intended stay, nature of costs being covered.
