Entry Requirements

  • Visitors from Rwanda can enter Micronesia without applying for visa for a duration of 30 days
  • Passport of visitors must be valid within the duration of stay.
  • Visitors are expected to present passport with at least one blank page for entry stamps.
  • A valid internationally recognised certificate of vaccination against small pox, yellow fever and cholera is required for visitors
  • Dogs and cats must be accompanied by a veterinary certificate of good health issued at their home country.
  • Visitors are required to declare amounts equivalent to $10,000 or above on entry.
  • Public drunkenness is considered a felony in Micronesia.
  • Penalties for processing, using, or trafficking in illegal drugs, including marijuana is severe and convicted offenders can expect long jail sentences and heavy fines
  • Children aged less than 18 years old must have an authenticated letter issued by their parent(s) or legal guardian(s) on entering or departing from Micronesia.
  • There is no public transportation, taxis are run by private individuals who make no provision for people with mobility issues.
  • Micronesia has a tropical marine climate moderated by seasonal northeast winds because the majority of the islands that form Micronesia are either volcanic islands or coral atolls.
  • The dry season runs from December or January to June and the rainy season from July to November or December
  • The country is known for palm-shaded beaches, wreck-filled dives and ancient ruins, including Nan Madol, sunken basalt temples and burial vaults that extend out of a lagoon on Pohnpei.
  • The tourist industry consists mainly of scuba divers that come to see coral reefs, do wall dives and visit sunken ships from World War II
  • It is possible for any citizen staying for no more than 30 days to extend his/her visit at the discretion of the Immigration Office provided he/she is coming for tourism or as a visitor.

  • There are no restrictions on importing: Gift articles valued up to XCD 250; this should happen only once a year; 1.14 litres of alcoholic drinks; this is allowed only to travellers aged 17 years old and more; Approximately 6 ounces (168 grammes) of perfume; 50 cigars or 200 cigarettes; this is allowed only to travellers aged 17 years old and more.
