Entry Requirements
- Citizens of Rwanda travelling to Suriname can apply for an electronic visa for a period of 90 days.
- Rwandan passports must be valid for the period of stay in the country.
- Visitors should provide a blank page n their passports for entry stamps.
- A copy of ticket showing entry and departure from Suriname is also required.
- Visitors are required to provide a Yellow Fever certificate of vaccination at the port of entry into the country.
- Pet animals, including wildlife, must be accompanied by an official certificate of veterinary health that is issued in the home country not be more than 2 weeks before departure.
- All travellers are not required to pay any airport tax upon departing from the airport.
- Importation of local currency is allowed up to 150 SRD (Suriname Dollar) and for foreign currencies not higher than 10,000 USD.
- Import of ammunition, firearms and other weapons requires an import licence.
- Residents must have proof of ownership if returning with personal properties such as bicycles, tape recorders, photo cameras and video cameras (with article numbers).
- Meat and meat products, all fruits except for moderate amounts imported from the Netherlands for personal use, coffee, cacao, fish, bulbs, vegetables, plants, rice, roots are prohibited from entering Suriname.
- Suriname has a very hot and wet tropical climate, and temperatures do not vary much throughout the year.
- The year has two wet seasons from April to August and from November to February. It also has two dry seasons, from August to November and February to April.
- The Surinamese populace is characterized by its high level of diversity, wherein no particular demographic group constitutes a majority.
- A large proportion of Surname’s population practice Christianity followed by Hindu, Islam, Winti and Javanism.
- Dutch is the sole official language of Suriname and is the language of education, government, business, and the media.
