General Requirements for Thailand Visa

Thailand Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- The Thailand tourist visa is issued to Rwandans who are visiting Thailand for sightseeing, tourism, personal enlightenment or other leisure activities.
- The tourist visa is also granted to Rwandans intending to travel to Thailand for medical purposes.
- Your Rwandan passport must be original and have a minimum validity of 6 months beyond your departure date from Thailand with at least 2 unused visa pages for entry and exit stamps.
- You need 1 passport-size photograph (3.5x4.5cm) taken against a white background and within the last 6 months.
- The Thailand tourist visa is valid for 30 or 60 days. It can, however, be extended for an additional 30 days.
- As proof that you intend to leave Thailand once your visa expires, you are required to provide a copy of your return ticket to your country of origin.
- It is mandatory for all applicants of a tourist visa to provide proof that they can cater to all their financial needs for the entire duration of their stay in Thailand. This proof should be in the form of a bank account statement of the latest 6 months showing a balance of the equivalent of at least 20,000 Baht per person and 40,000 Baht per family.
- Travellers are advised to be vaccinated for hepatitis A, hepatitis B, typhoid, cholera, yellow fever, Japanese encephalitis, rabies, and meningitis.
- You are required to provide proof of hotel or private accommodation for the entire duration of your stay in Thailand.
- if a minor is travelling to Thailand, they are to provide original and notarized copies of their birth certificate as well as a letter of consent from a parent who will not be travelling (or from both parents if the minor is travelling alone).
Thailand Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Rwandans who intend to travel to Thailand to conduct business or work in Thailand are eligible to obtain the business visa. It is also known as a non-immigrant visa.
- You need an original Rwandan passport that has at least 2 unused pages and is valid for a minimum of 6 months beyond the date you intend to leave Thailand.
- 2 passport-size photographs taken with a white background sometime within the last 6 months must be submitted with your completed application form.
- You must submit an official note issued by a partner company in Thailand (or your employer if you are travelling to work) certifying the purpose of your travel.
- You also need a business letter from your employer confirming the purpose of your travel and how long you intend to spend in Thailand.
- You are required to provide a copy of your employment contract stating your role in the company, your salary and your qualifications. The letter must be signed an authorised managing director and affixed the seal of the company.
- If you have previously worked in Thailand, you are to include a copy of the work permit issued you be the Ministry of Labour.
- You are to submit a copy of your educational records and letters of recommendation from the prior employers, identifying the job description and length of service time if you intend to work in Thailand.
- You must provide a printed copy of your return flight ticket as proof that you intend to return to your country of origin once your visa expires.
- You must also provide proof of a hotel reservation in your name for the entire duration of your stay in Thailand.
- A copy of your most recent bank statements must be submitted as proof that you can cater to all your needs for the entire duration of your stay in Thailand. If your employer will be covering your expenses for the duration of your stay, you should provide a letter of guarantee from your employer to that effect.
- The Thailand business visa is a single-entry visa that is valid for 90 days. You can, however, apply for a multiple-entry visa that is valid for a year.
- If you are applying for a multiple-entry visa, your Rwandan passport must be valid for at least 18 months.
Thailand Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- The Thailand student visa allows Rwandans to visit Thailand to study in one of the institutions of learning in the country. It is a non-migrant visa and is also known as an education visa.
- The student visa allows its holder to attend training sessions, cooking classes, martial arts classes, participate in projects or seminars, or study as a foreign Buddhist monk.
- The student visa also allows foreigners to undertake skilled work or to work as an expert or a specialist.
- You are required to submit a letter of acceptance from the academic institution you have been accepted to. The letter should be written on the institution's letterhead and should state the course you have been accepted to take.
- An official note from an approved institution in Thailand confirming the purpose of your travel must be submitted.
- You must also provide certificates and transcripts of institutions you have previously attended.
- Foreign students are allowed to work part-time for a period of up to 20-hours per week when school is in session and full-time when school is on break.
- Qualified applicants can obtain an additional one-year stay permit counting from the date of entry into the country pertaining to the Office of the Immigration Bureau’s regulation on the extension of stay.
- To obtain a student visa you are required to show proof of financial stability. Students should have 15,000 – 25,000 Baht monthly. (Equivalent to 390 – 650 Euros).
- Documents in foreign languages must be translated into English or Thai and properly notarized by notary organs or the diplomatic/ consular mission in your country or the country you are submitting your visa application.
