Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Tongan Visa.
- A valid Rwandan passport with at least 6 months validity beyond your departure date from Tonga.
- A duly completed and signed visa application form.
- 2 recent passport-size photographs.
- A medical report by a medical practitioner approved by Tonga Immigration.
- A police report showing no criminal record.
- Proof of accommodation for the entire duration of stay.

Tonga Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Rwandans who intend to travel to Tonga for vacation, tourism, sightseeing, or other leisure activities are eligible to apply for the Tongan tourist visa.
- The tourist visa also allows foreign nationals to visit friends or relatives residing in Tonga.
- You are required to provide a copy of your return flight ticket to your country of origin as proof that you intend to leave Tonga once your visa expires.
- You should also provide proof that you can cater to all your financial needs while in Tonga by submitting recent copies of your bank account statements.
- You should note that the Tongan tourist visa does not permit you to take up paid employment, study or engage in any business activity while you are in Tonga.
- The tourist visa allows a maximum stay of 30 days but can be extended for an additional 30 days.
- Tourists are not allowed to travel to Tonga on Sunday as Tonga is a religious country where the majority of the citizens practice Christianity. You are thus advised to plan your travel with this in mind.
- You are also advised to get vaccinations for rabies, typhoid, polio, yellow fever and hepatitis B before travelling to Tonga.
- If travelling with prescription medication, you should check with the Ministry of Health to ensure the medication is legal and available in Tonga. Always carry your prescription medication in original packaging with your doctor’s prescription.
Tonga Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Tongan business visa is issued to foreign nationals who intend to travel to Tonga for business purposes.
- A visa application form must be fully completed. It is mandatory that you sign the declaration on the application form. Incomplete applications may delay the processing of your visa application or lead to outright denial.
- You are required to send 2 recent passport-size photographs with your completed visa application forms.
- Your Rwandan passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date.
- You are to submit a medical report issued within the last 6 months by a medical practitioner approved by Tonga Immigration.
- If you are over the age of 16, you need to present a national police clearance issued within the last 3 months in your country.
- You need 2 character references from 2 individuals wo have known you for a significant period of time. The references must state the referees full contact details.
- You must present a letter of support from Ministry of Labour, Commerce & Industries as Immigration will not consider an application that is not supported by the ministry.
- The business visa may take up to one of assessment and processing.
- If you intend to travel to Tonga to start up a business, you may enter the country on a visitor's visa but you must inform Tonga Immigration of your intention in advance and in writing. Failure to do this attracts a fee of 1,150 Tongan Pa’anga.
- You may submit the photocopies of all the documents requested.
- If you overstay your visa or wish to adjust from a vistor's visa to a business visa, you will have to pay a sum of 1,150 Tongan Pa’anga.

What currency is used in Tonga?
