Vietnam Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Tourist visa is granted to non-immigrants who want to travel for tourism purposes
  • This visa can also be used to visit friends and families or attend social gatherings
  • Vietnam tourist visa is referred to as a c-1 visa
  • It has both single-entry and multiple-entry types
  • The visa is valid for a period of 90 days but can be extended without having to travel out of Vietnam
  • An additional fee known as stamp fee is required to be paid at the airport
  • For single-entry, the stamp fee is $25 and $50 for a multiple-entry visa
  • A group of up to 10 persons can apply to travel to Vietnam and pay a reduced application fee
  • Minors should apply with a copy of an original birth certificate
  • Before travelling to Vietnam, you must have an accommodation reservation
  • Working or studying with this visa is prohibited
  • Proof of payment of application fee is required

Vietnam Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Vietnam business visa is also referred to as A3, B2, B3 or B4 visa
  • It is issued for exploration of business potentials, settling estates, and negotiating contracts
  • Business visa can be used to purchase and sell business materials
  • To obtain a business visa you are required to submit a letter from your employer. The letter, printed on the company’s letterhead should state the exact purpose and duration of the trip
  • Just like the tourist visa, the business visa is also of single-entry and multiple-entry types both valid for 90 days
  • Generally, it takes two days to process the visa but if you need the visa to be processed faster, you can apply for urgent processing
  • There is currently no Vietnam visa application center in Rwanda so applicants have to go to any nearby country with a Vietnamese embassy or consulate
  • Tanzania is the nearest country to Rwanda with a Vietnamese embassy. It is approximately a 1-hour 55-minute flight 
  • You are required to pay an additional fee of $25 for single-entry and $50 for multiple-entry. This fee is known as stamp fee and it is paid at the airport

I advise you to bargain for a lot of items you are going to purchase. Locals however friendly they are, are always looking to make more from tourists and foreigners like any other country. So as a general rule of thumb, I suggest you offer half the price of whatever is being negotiated.
