Application requirements

Visa type details

Tourist visa

  • The visa is meant to those who intend to visit Iraq for tourism or leisure.
  • The Iraq tourist visa has two types(2), based on the number of entries allowed:
  • Single Entry visa is a visa which allows holders to gain entry once(30 days - 60 days)
  • Multiple Entry is visa which allows multiple entries (within 30 days from the first-day entry - 60 days)
  • A passport has to be valid for six months to be issued a visa.
  • The duration of stay is 30 days including entry and departure.
  • The validity of permit is usually 90 days which also includes the issuance days.
  • The photographs needed are coloured passport photos with a white background.
  • The coloured copy of your passport Bio page and Last Page MUST contain the details of your full name, nationality, date and place of birth, passport number, date of issue and entry.
  • An invitation letter, a passport copy and valid residence copy of the host is required by the embassy issuing you a visa.
  • Travellers are expected to respect the local traditions, laws and customs especially during the holy month of Ramadan while in Iraq.
  • You need a yellow fever vaccination certificate.
  • If you stay in Iraq more the expected duration of stay without extending the visa, you will need an exit stamp to leave country.
  • All visitors to Iraq, with the exception of those travelling on a tourist visa, must have a blood test for HIV and hepatitis within 10 days of arrival.

Work visa

  • Those who intend to work in Iraq need a work visa.
  • The visa gives investors and business owners the right to employ foreign workers.
  • If you want to obtain a work permit, you will need to submit an employment offer issued by your employee.
  • A written request by your employer, indicating the validity of your employment status is to be presented by the embassy.
  • Before you are offered a visa, your documents have to be reviewed by government department.
  • As a non-citizen, you are expected to have received an official offer from either Iraqi authorities, respective Ministries of Foreign Affairs and letters from the Chamber of Commerce, as well as a letter from your prospective employer stating the reason for your travel and inviting you to work in Iraq.
  • Your potential employer is expected to submit a written request to the Ministry of Labour and social affairs. This should include all required information and supporting documents, your employee’s name, nationality, type and duration of work, employer’s name and address.
  • One of the documents needed include a Visa Application form.
  • Two coloured passport photos are required
