Luxembourg Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Luxembourg tourist visa is a short stay visa which is also known as Type C visa or Schengen visa. It permits a visitor to enter Luxembourg for the purpose of tourism, visiting friends and relatives or participating in a conference or business meeting.
  • Since Luxembourg is a member of the Schengen Agreement, it follows the common visa rules applicable to all Schengen countries.
  • The Luxembourg tourist visa is valid for only 90 days. 
  • The visa is issued for single or multiple entries. In case of multiple entries, the total duration of a visitor’s stay over the multiple visits to places in the Schengen area cannot exceed the 90 days limit valid for a period of six months.
  • During the visa application, you will need to provide proof of sufficient funds to last the duration of your stay. Visitors should have at least $75 per day.
  • You must show proof of having individual medical travel insurance that is valid in all the Schengen countries and it must have a minimum coverage of EUR 30,000.
  • This visa does not serve study purposes. You cannot be enrolled in any of the institutions of learning in the country.

    Luxembourg Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements

    • Tanzanians who are looking to pursue educational courses in Luxembourg for more than 90 days will have to obtain a student visa.
    • The Luxembourg student visa is a long-term visa granted to students who have already been accepted for admission by a recognized higher educational institute in Luxembourg.
    • The student visa must be obtained before entry into the country. 
    • Before you apply for Luxembourg student visa, you must obtain a ‘temporary authorization to stay’ by applying to the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Luxembourg. This temporary authorization to stay is valid for a period of 90 days only. You will have to apply for your student visa within this 90 day period.
    • To be eligible for a Luxembourg student visa, you must provide proof of being enrolled as a full-time student in one of Luxembourg’s institutions for higher education.
    • You must also provide proof of full payment of tuition fee for the course. Your medical insurance must cover the total number of days you will be staying in Luxembourg as a student The insurance must be valid for all Schengen countries for minimum coverage of EUR 30,000.
    • Students are required to have 500 Euros monthly to cover their finances. 
    • Proof of accommodation should be submitted. This could be either a dormitory contract (signed between you and an official of a dormitory in the country where you will be staying) or rent Agreement (a contract with a property owner in this Schengen state, specifying the address and other information details about the facility and landlord).
