Entry Requirements

  • Nationals of Tanzania can visit Uganda for a duration of 90 days without a visa.
  • Zimbabwe passport holders who wish to stay longer than the 90-day period are to apply and pay for an extension at the Immigration department.
  • Visitors who stay beyond the stay duration without applying for an extension will be fined $30 each day.
  • Prospective visitors are required to have a passport valid for a minimum of 6 months from the date of entry in Uganda. The passport should have at least two blank pages for visa stamping.
  • Tourists are to provide proof of yellow fever vaccination on arrival in Uganda.
  • Tanzania citizens travelling to Uganda must provide proof of a confirmed means of accommodation for their entire stay in Uganda. This could be in the form of a hotel reservation or a sponsor letter from a host living in the country.
  • A return ticket to Tanzania or onward destination is needed as well.
  • Intending visitors can get to Uganda from any international airport in Tanzania. There are international airports in Dar es Salaam and Mwanza.
  • EgyptAir, RwandAir, PrecisionAir and Kenya Airways are some of the airlines that fly from Tanzania to Uganda.
  • The estimated flight time from Dar es Salaam to Kampala, Uganda is 3 hours, 35 minutes and from Mwanza, it is 7 hours, 40 minutes.
  • Uganda has a warm tropical climate. The dry season is from June to August, and from December to February, while the rainy season is from March to May and September to November.
