Basic Travel Requirements for Tunisians visiting South Africa

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a South African Visa.

  • Original Tunisia passport that is valid for at least 6 months beyond stay in South Africa.
  • The passport must have at least 3 empty pages for visa stamp.
  • Signed application form that is correctly filled is required.
  • No column of the visa form should be left blank or incomplete.
  • Two recently taken passport photograph in color with white background is required.
  • The passport photographs should be taken within the last three months.
  • Black and white photos and photos printed on paper will not be accepted.
  • Proof of sufficient funds for the duration of stay in South Africa.

South Africa is popular for its natural landscape, game reserves, and cultural heritage. Tourists interested in natural history would have a good time visiting the country. A wide range of species can be found in various nature parks around the country. The most popular national parks are the Kruger National Park and Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, other smaller parks are Addo National Park and Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park. There are also beaches which offer activities like surfing and kayaking. In addition to its numerous natural attractions, South Africa also boasts a large number of attractions of cultural significance. They include caves forming part of the Cradle of Humankind in Gauteng, the ruins of the Kingdom of Mapungubwe in northern Limpopo, the wine routes of the Western Cape amongst others.
 
The tourism industry is one of the most important industries of the South African economy. In 2012, the country was responsible for directly contributing ZAR 102 billion of South African GDP and supports 10.3% of jobs in the country. In 2014, over 9 million tourists visited South Africa which was a 0.1% increase from the number of visitors recorded the previous year.
 
Foreigners visiting South Africa are not allowed to enter the country with more than ZAR25,000 but can enter the country with unlimited foreign currency. No Kruger coin is allowed. On exit from the country, you cannot be in possession of more than ZAR25,000 but can leave with unlimited foreign currency if the amount was declared on entry. Foreigners can leave the country with up to 15 Kruger coins if there is proof it was purchased with foreign currency.
 
Citizens of Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Malta, Portugal, Russia, Spain, the United Kingdom, etc can gain entry visa-free for a stay of 90 days. Nationals of Angola, Antigua, and Barbuda, Cape Verde, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Hungary, Jordan, Poland, South Korea, Thailand, etc do not need a visa for stays of 30 days or less.

South Africa Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Passport should be valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended length of stay in South Africa.
  • Application form should be correctly filled, signed and stamped.
  • Bank statement showing proof of enough funds throughout stay in South Africa.
  • Letter of invitation from host in South Africa introducing the applicant and the purpose of travel to South Africa.
  • The letter must also state the place of stay, duration of stay, and information of host in South Africa
  • The host is required to provide a copy of South Africa passport or ID card.
  • The letter of invitation as well as the South Africa passport and ID card must be notarized by a Government officer in South Africa.
  • The applicant must provide an invitation letter from the tour operator in South Africa if the applicant’s purpose of visit is for exploration.
  • The letter must involve the contact information, and address of the tour organization.
  • The tour operator’s registration letter must be approved by the Ministry of Tourism in South Africa.
  • Computer-generated flight itinerary or copy of flight tickets is required.

  • The business visa is issued to foreigners travelling to South Africa for business purposes.
  • Proof of sufficient funds to cover the costs of stay (e.g. bank statement for 2 recent months) is required.
  • Self-employed people may need to submit proof of business registration.
  • Proof of payment of visa application fee should be submitted.
  • An invitation letter from the host company in South Africa introducing the applicant, stating the nature of business to be conducted in South Africa and the duration of stay in the country.
  • This letter will also contain their detailed address, accompanied with the date and actual purpose of the trip.
  • If the host company is going to be financially responsible for the applicant in South Africa, it should be clearly stated in the letter of invitation.
  • A letter from your employer in Tunisia is to be submitted also.
  • The letter should confirm the duration and purpose of your trip as well as the job position and salary earned.
  • Applicants are to provide an incentive that says that you will be returning to Tunisia at the expiration of the business visa.
  • Applicants are required to provide copies of previous trade relations between the company in Tunisia and the company in South Africa.
  • Proof of accommodation/hotel reservations in South Africa is required.
  • Current bank statements and certificates of Income-tax of the company both in Tunisia and South Africa are to be submitted.
