Algeria Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Ugandans looking to travel to Algeria for tourism purposes can apply for an Algerian tourist visa.
- This visa has two types:
- Single-entry visa: this visa is valid for 90 days.
- Multiple entry visa: this visa is valid for 180 days.
- Travelers must declare at Customs if they are traveling with more than 3000 Algerian dinar or foreign currency that exceeds 1000 euros (or equivalent).
- Algerian dinars cannot be taken out of the country.
- The amount of up to 7500 Euros (or equivalent in other foreign currency) can be taken out of the country. Proof that the money has been withdrawn from an Algerian bank account is required.
- Applicants are required to provide proof of employment status. This will serve as evidence of your capability to finance your trip, and also act as an incentive indicating your readiness to leave Algeria at the expiration of your visa.
- There are instances when visa applications get refused, such as:
- You have not provided a good enough reason for traveling to Algeria.
- Your travel itinerary was not included.
- It does not appear that you can afford the trip.
- Your passport is not valid.
- You have submitted documents in a foreign language.

- Remain on principal highways when traveling to coastal/mountainous areas east of Algiers and the mountains immediately south of Algiers.
- Always travel with reputable Algerian travel agents who know the area.
- Avoid staying overnight outside of the main cities and tourist locations.
- Inform local police when staying in locations outside of major cities.
- The crime rate in Algeria is moderate. Algeria has a very visible police presence throughout the country, as well as many plain-clothes police officers
Algeria Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- The Algerian business visa is issued to Ugandan business men and women who are traveling for business purposes.
- The Algerian business visa is issued on both single-entry and multiple-entry.
- Foreigners must contact the Ministry of the Interior, Foreigners Office, before engaging in any travel within the interior of the country. The Ministry will notify local police of the planned travel and the police may choose to assign escorts for that travel.
- Applicants must provide a letter and it must include the following:
- The full name, address and contact details of the host company.
- Specify the purpose and duration of stay.
- Include an acceptance of financial responsibility for the applicant.
- Be signed by the applicant's host company.
- Be issued within the last three months.
- Travelers must provide return tickets. The return tickets can be obtained without paying the actual amount from an authentic travel agency. This is to ensure that you will return to your country after your work is done.
- It is compulsory to attach a letter of sponsorship from your employer stating that you are travelling to Algeria as a part of your business. In case you’re self-employed, you need to have the employment contract, instead of the letter of sponsorship.
- Bank statements for the last 6 months are among the most important documents to get your visa approved. It shows that you are financially capable to make the trip.
- You need to submit the original invitation from the Algerian company that you’re planning to visit. Note that it must be duly attested by the Algerian chamber of commerce. You can courier the document directly to the embassy so that they are safely enclosed with the other documents.
Algeria Journalist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- The Algerian journalist visa is issued to Ugandan journalists traveling for journalism purposes.
- The visa is valid for six months but can be extended to 12 months.
- A company letter from your production company or television network is required.
- Travelers are required to provide a list of equipment they'll be traveling with.
- A self-addressed envelop must be provided. The envelope does not have to be stamped or postage paid- it only needs to be large enough for the return of your passport/s etc.
- Travelers are not allowed to take up paid jobs with this visa.
- Once your visa has expired, you are required to leave the country.
