How to get a Congo visa from Uganda

• Ugandans looking to travel to Congo for tourism purposes can apply for the Congolese tourist visa.
• This visa is valid for 90 days.
• The Republic of Congo, also known as the Congo or Congo Brazzaville, should not be confused with the Democratic Republic of Congo which is a neighboring country.
• The currency restriction for Congo is 5 million CDF ($5,400).
• All departing travelers must pay these airport fees when checking in:
• $50 airport exit fee.
• $5 boarding fee.
• Passengers on domestic flights pay $10.
• Yellow fever vaccine is required. Hepatitis B vaccine is also recommended
  
• Cellular phones are the norm, as other telephone service is unreliable and landlines are nearly non-existent. It may be possible to purchase a SIM card locally and use a U.S.-compatible cell phone.
• The Congolese Franc is the currency of Congo (CDF) but U.S. dollars are widely accepted in urban areas. Most vendors and banking institutions will accept only bills printed from 2010 or later. Bills must be crisp and in good condition; even those with minor stains or small tears may be rejected. One-dollar bills are rarely accepted.
• Counterfeit currency is widely circulated. Examine U.S. bills before accepting them to ensure they are legitimate. Exchange currency only at reputable banks.
• It is illegal to take pictures of government buildings, military installations, and along border areas. You could be fined, have your photographic equipment confiscated, or be detained or arrested. Do not take photos of Congolese without permission.
• Make sure your health insurance covers you overseas. Most care providers overseas only accept cash payments.
  

• Ugandans who intend to travel to the Congo to engage in business activities are eligible to apply for the Congolese business visa.
• Ugandans can do the following with a Congolese business visa:
• Attend conferences.
• Attend trade fairs.
• Start up businesses.
• Attend business summits.
• Travellers who will be attending conferences in the country should ensure they register for the conference before leaving their country as they are required to provide proof of registration for the visa application.
• A letter from your employer confirming awareness and allowance of business leave is required. The letter should also state the purpose of your business travel to the Congo and the duration of your visit to the country.
• The letter must also indicate who will be financially responsible for you while you are in the Congo (your employer or the partner company in the Congo).
• An official letter of invitation from the partner company written on the company’s letterhead stating the nature of the business being performed should be provided. The letter should be addressed to “The Embassy of the Republic of Congo” and must be stamped by the local Department of Immigration.
• If you will be visiting more than one company, a letter of invitation from each company you will be visiting is required.
• The Certificate of Business Registration and the Income Tax Return of the host company is required.
• If there has been any previous dealing between your company and the partner Congolese company, proof of this should be submitted.

The currency used in Congo is the Congolese Franc. The Congolese Franc (CDF) was created in 1997, replacing the Zaïre, the currency used by the country under the rule of Mobutu Sese Seko.
