Basic Travel Requirements for Ugandans visiting Greece

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Greek Visa.

  • An Ugandan passport valid for at least 6 months from the intended arrival date and must have 2 blank pages for visa stamp.
  • Duly completed and signed visa application form.
  • If the applicant is a minor, the parents/legal guardians have to sign the form.
  • Passport-size photographs (40 mm x 60 mm ) taken in white background.
  • Travel document.
  • Proof of financial support.
  • Proof of accommodation.
  • Copy of return flight ticket.
  • Documentation showing applicant’s ties to home country. 
  • Documentation confirming the purpose of travel.
  • Copy of travel itinerary.

Democracy, western philosophy, western literature, historiography, political science, major scientific and mathematical principles are considered to have originated from Greece. Tourists visiting the country can be assured of being engaged throughout their time in the country.  
 
In 2018, the country played host to over 33 million foreign tourists which made it one of the most visited countries in the world. Olympia, Greece, is popular for being the original birthplace of the Olympics Games. The tourism industry is a major contributing factor to the Gross Domestic Product in Greece. The industry is responsible for contributing 18% to the country’s GDP.
 
Indecent dressing and behavior are not tolerated, prison sentences or fines will be issued to anyone caught in the act. Anyone who is caught driving under the influence of alcohol will be fined or imprisoned. Always make sure you request a receipt whenever you buy anything in the country.

Greece Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Ugandans traveling to Greece can apply for the Greek tourist visa.
  • This visa is valid for 90 days.
  • Greece is part of the Schengen countries so you can also use a Schengen visa.
  • Travel Insurance stating that you are covered in case of a medical emergency and repatriation in Greece and in the Schengen Area (minimum coverage of € 30.000) must be provided.
  • Foreign nationals are obliged to attest possessing an amount of 50€ per day and a minimum total amount of 300€ for a stay of up to 5 days.
  • Bank and credit card statements for the last 3 months must be provided by the applicant.
  • Keep the form with your passport while you are in Greece and present it upon departure. If you lose the form, you must visit a police station and file a report before the Greek authorities will permit you to depart the country.
  • Penalties for possessing, using, or trafficking in illegal drugs are severe, and convicted offenders can expect long jail sentences and heavy fines. Marijuana is illegal in Greece.
  • Things you should not do in Greece as a tourist:
    • Show too much skin when visiting a church.
    • Rely only on credit cards.
    • Take a passive-aggressive attitude with smokers.
    • Take photos of military installations.
    • Throw paper in the toilet.
    • Eat or drink in the metro in Athens.
    • Do the moutza.
    • Touch artifacts in museums and at archaeological sites.

Greece Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Greek business visa is issued to Ugandans traveling to Greece with the intention of engaging in business activities.
  • Holders of this visa can negotiate and sign business contracts with their partners during business meetings.
  • An invitation letter from the host company in Greece is required. The letter should be written in both Greek and English.
  • The invitation letter should introduce the applicant and state the duration and purpose of the applicant’s visit.
  • This visa allows foreigners to attend and participate in trade fairs, conferences, and business seminars relating to their profession.
  • Foreigners visiting the country to attend a conference should provide an invitation letter from the company or authorized body to attend events connected with trade.
  • Applicants of this visa must provide evidence of a clean criminal record from the last three years.
  • A letter from the applicant’s employer stating the applicant’s job position, salary level and length of employment should be provided.
  • A Certificate of Business Incorporation of a company in Greece is required.
