General Requirements for Hungary Visa
Hungary Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Ugandans looking to travel to Hungary for tourism purposes must apply for the Hungarian tourist visa.
- Hungary is part of the Schengen countries so you can apply for a Schengen visa.
- Travel visa insurance confirmation of minimum 30,000 € coverage within Hungary and the entire Schengen area must be provided.
- A cover letter stating the purpose of visit to Hungary must be provided.
- The earliest you can apply is 3 months before you intend to travel. You should apply no later than 15 working days in advance.
- In most cases, you will be informed within 15 calendar days whether your application has been successful. Sometimes it can take up to 30 days if more time is needed, and up to 60 days in exceptional cases, for example if extra documents are required.
- Amounts more than 10,000 dollars or equivalent must be declared at customs.
- Although Hungary is generally a safe place to visit, you should use caution and stay alert. Be especially careful in train stations, crowded tourist areas, crowded buses, trams, and metros.
- Carry your passport with you at all times. Local police may require you to show documentation to establish your identity upon request. Hungarian police may take you into custody if you attempt to prove your identity with documents other than a passport.
- Hungary has a zero tolerance policy for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Penalties are severe, including significant jail time.
- Proof of civil status (marriage certificate, birth certificate of children, death certificate of spouse, ration card if applicable) must be provided.
Hungary Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- The Hungarian business visa is for Ugandans traveling to Hungary for business purposes.
- This visa is valid for 90 days and it is also extendable to 180 days.
- Invitation letter from the Hungarian company you will be visiting and their detailed address accompanied with the dates of your visit must be provided.
- A certificate from your employer stating/allowing your business travel is also required.
- If there were previous trade relations between the two companies, proof of such events must be provided.
- Business bank statement of the latest 6 months is required from the applicant.
- Memorandum and Article of Association in original certified copy (registered with joint stock companies) Trade License (first issued and present renewal), Proprietorship/Partnership documents is required.
- Regarding the applicant’s expenses during stay in the Schengen zone, either the employer or the partner company must state coverage of expenses on the letter or invitation.
Hungary Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Ugandans intending to travel to Hungary to study in one of the institutions in the country can apply for the Hungarian student visa.
- This visa is valid for 6 months and is extendable for long-term study.
- International students may also be eligible for a scholarship provided by the Hungarian government. On average, you should expect to pay between $5,500/€4,900 and $15,000/€13,200 per year. You should also expect to pay application/examination fees of around $500/€440.
- Student visas requirements for Hungary vary, therefore it's important to enquire well in advance about the entry regulations which apply to your home country.
- To receive a student visa for Hungary, you must first have an offer from a Hungarian university.
- Students are required to apply for a residence permit.
- A residence permit authorizes foreigners to reside in Hungary for a period of minimum 90 days but not exceeding two years.
- The application for a residence permit should be submitted to the Hungarian Consulate in the country where the permanent or temporary residence of the applicant is located.
- The following documents are also required:
- Acceptance Letter from the university in Hungary where you are enrolled.
- Proof that you have paid your tuition fees to the university.
- Ticket or reservation of your flight to Hungary.
- Proof of proper accommodation in Hungary.
- Bank statement as proof that you have sufficient funds in the possession to afford your living in Hungary.
- Medical certificate stating that you are healthy.
- Students are required to have 70 dollars per day in order to cover their financial stay in Hungary.
