Entry Requirements

  • Visitation to Indonesia for the citizens of Zambia is available of 30 days without a visa.
  • Zambians intending to visit Indonesia are required to provide a passport with six months of validity and with at least two blank pages for stamps on arrival and departure.
  • Currency restriction in Indonesia for travelers is 100,000,000 Indonesian rupiah (approx. $7,500 USD).
  • This is a no-fee stamp placed in your passport upon arrival for tourists staying less than 30 days; no extensions are allowed and no adjustment to another visa status permitted.
  • You must enter and exit through an immigration checkpoint at major airports and seaports.
  • You also must have a return or onward ticket to another country and have not been previously refused entry to Indonesia or blacklisted.
  • Entry requirements are subject to change at the discretion of Indonesian immigration authorities. If you overstay your visa, you are subject to a fine of 1 million Indonesian rupiah (about $70 USD at current exchange rates; fees may change at any time) per day and may be detained and deported.
  • Use a reputable taxi company or hire a taxi either at a major hotel or shopping center. Travelers have been robbed in taxis that have been painted to look like legitimate taxis.

Use an ATM in a secure location and check the machine for evidence of tampering. Monitor your account statements regularly.

  • All foreign nationals in Indonesia are subject to local laws. If you violate local laws, even unknowingly, you may be expelled, arrested, or imprisoned. Criminal cases can take months or even years to resolve, and suspects can be held without charges for up to 60 days, and in many cases longer.
  • We strongly recommend supplemental insurance to cover medical evacuation, which can exceed $100,000 per person.

Prices are typically written with the abbreviation before the amount (e.g., Rp 10.000, or in some instances, Rp 10K). The official currency code for the Indonesian rupiah is IDR.
  • Indonesia has an almost entirely tropical climate, with the coastal plains averaging 28°C, the inland and mountain areas averaging 26°C, and the higher mountain regions, 23°C. The area's relative humidity is quite high, and ranges between 70 and 90 percent.
  • The best time of year to visit Indonesia is between May and September when the days are dry and sunny. However, during wet season temperatures remain high and rainfall comes in the form of intense tropical downpours that tend to last for a couple of hours and needn't spoil your trip.
