Basic Travel Requirements for Zimbabweans visiting Romania
Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Romanian Visa.
- An appropriately filled and signed visa application form.
- A passport valid for the entire period to be spent in Romania.
- Passport biodata page and the page showing the date of entry at the Romanian border.
- A bank statement that reflects the applicant's financial stability
- Two recent 3 x 4 cm coloured passport-sized photographs.
- Vaccination certificates.

Romania Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- This visa is issued to applicants who want want to go to Romania for tourism and leisure purposes.
- People who want to visit family and friends can also go into the country with this visa.
- This visa is a short-stay visa (marked C) and it is valid for 90 days in any 180-day period.
- The short-stay visa grants holders the right to request entry in the territory of Romania for reasons other than migration, given an uninterrupted stay or for more stays which cannot exceed 90 days throughout any 180-day period.
- This type of visa can be issued with one or multiple entries. The right of stay granted through the Romanian short-stay visa cannot be extended i.e. the 90 days duration of stay.
- A valid passport accepted by Romania on which a visa can be affixed would be requested for at the embassy.
- The validity of the passport must exceed the validity of the visa you apply for by at least 3 months and must have been issued no later than 10 years ago.
- The embassy would also request for a proof of the applicants' intention to return to their state of origin or of traveling to another state after the intended stay on the territory of Romania.
- Applicants with hosts such as family members or friends should provide documents that attest that they have family members in the territory.
- A detailed itinerary of the trip would be needed for a multiple-entry visa application.
- Applicants are expected to have a minimum of 50 euro per day for the entire period of stay in the country. Visa applicants who make the proof of an anticipated and whole payment of tourist package services as regards at least accommodation and nourishment are exempt from submitting the proof of financial means of support.
Romania Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- The Romania business visa is issued to foreigners who intend to come into the country for economic or commercial purposes. Applicants can also get a visa for signing contracts and negotiations.
- This visa is also a short-stay visa.
- Applicants would be expected to submit an invitation from a company or from a public authority to participate in meetings and conferences.
- This should attest that the respective company or public authority undertakes all costs as regards the trip and repatriation.
- You may train local employees or check the use and operation of goods acquired or sold under commercial and industrial co-operation contracts.
- A flight reservation to the Romanian territory showing your entry and exit dates should be provided. It should also contain your PNR and full details as they appear on your international passport bio-data page.
- A letter from your employer confirming your business leave is required. The letter should be written with the company’s letterhead and should have information which includes your position in the company and the duration of your business leave.
Romania Work Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- This visa is issued to those who want to take up paid employment in Romania.
- It is issued as a long-stay visa (D-type).
- Work visas are obtained via the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection in Romania. This is usually done by the employing company.
- Documentation of employment given by the Romanian employer would be needed for the application.
- It is recommended that the procedure be initiated five weeks before arrival in Romania.
- The long-stay visa for employment or work visa can also be issued to third-state nationals who travel to Romania for employment as seasonal workers.
- A work permit would also be requested.
- Applicants are to have a work permit issued by the Inspectorate General for Immigration from the Romanian Ministry of Internal Affairs. This would be accompanied by a work authorization document.
- They are to also obtain a right of residence to back up the work permit.
- The right of residence granted through the D-type visa can be extended by applying for such an extension of the right of residence on the national territory.
- The extension of the right of residence is materialized through a residence permit issued by the Inspectorate General for Immigration from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Romania.
- The applications for the extension of the temporary right of residence must be personally submitted by applicants at least 30 days before the expiry of the right to stay granted through the visa.
Romania Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- This visa is issued to students who want to study in Romania.
- A letter of acceptance from the Romanian Ministry of education would be requested at the embassy.
- There should be proof of tuition fees paid for one year (payment must be done after getting the acceptance letter)
- Applicants should also have proof of sufficient means of support for the entire period specified in the visa (approximately 2500 Euros)
- A certificate issued by the police in Zimbabwe reflecting the applicant has no criminal record would be asked for. There should also be other documents that show that the person is linked to the origin country.
- An approval letter signed by the parents or guardians would be needed for minor applicants.
- A residence permit should be applied for when the applicant enters the territory. It is valid for 1 year and must be renewed every year.
- For students on scholarship, the residence permit is usually issued for the total duration of their studies.
- There should be proof of payment of the tuition fee for at least one academic year.
- A document reflecting the applicant's confirmed accommodation would also be requested.
Romania Transit Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- This visa is issued to people who want to transit from Romania to another country.
- There are two types:
- Airport Transit visa (Type A)
- Transit Visa (Type B)
- The Type A visa allows its holder to transit through the international transit areas of one or more airports of Romania, without entering the territory of Romania. It is valid for 24 hours.
- The Type B visa can be issued for one, two or multiple transits and is valid for 5 days.
- Applicants are to submit a copy of their visa for the state of destination. This would allow them to continue their onward journey.
- An onward airplane ticket valid for the destination is also required.
