Basic Travel Requirements for Cameroonians visiting Mexico

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Mexican Visa.

  • A Cameroonian passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into mexico and must have 2 blank pages for visa stamp.
  • A fully completed and signed visa application form.
  • Minors are to have their  parents/legal guardians sign their form.
  • Three passport-size photographs (4.5 x 3.5 cm) taken in white background.
  • Travel document must be complete.
  • A proof of sufficient funds to cover length of your  stay. 
  • Evidence of accommodation/hotel reservations during the duration of stay. 
  • An original copy of return flight ticket.
  • Documentation showing applicant’s ties to home country.
  • A police report to show you don't have a criminal record.
  • Medical insurance to cover entire duration of stay.
  • Documents which confirms the purpose of your travel.
  • A copy of travel itinerary.
  • International Certificate of yellow fever certificate.

Facts about Mexico

Mexico is one of the top tourist destinations in the world. The country is known for its beaches, culture and UNESCO World Heritage Sites. There are a plethora of beaches in the country with the most popular being the resort town of Cancun. University students during their spring break make the resort their top destination during this period. Other beaches include the beach in Acapulco, Cabo San Lucas, Mazunte, etc. Activities to be carried out on the beaches in Mexico include surfing, snorkeling, cliff diving, and fishing.
 
Tourism in Mexico is the third-largest source of income for Mexico. The country is one of the most visited countries in the world and the second-most visited countries in the Americas. In 2017, the number of visitors in Mexico was close to 40 million which was up 12 percent from 2016. It has been estimated that the number is going to increase at a rate of about 4.2 million per year.
 
Foreigners visiting Mexico will not be allowed entry into or exit from Mexico with more than $10,000 or its equivalent in any currency. Punishment for drug-related crimes are very severe and those who are caught engaging in any of these offenses will be jailed for a long period of time.

Mexico Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Foreigners can visit Mexico for the purpose of sightseeing, relaxation and recreation with a tourist visa.
  • Holders of this visa with the intention of visiting friends and relatives in Mexico are allowed to do so with a tourist visa.
  • Travelers must have a passport with validity of at least three months beyond your intended period of stay.Those without one are expected to renew before they plan to travel to Mexico.
  • If you were invited by a friend or relative in Mexico, you are to provide an invitation letter from them.  The letter should have the valid home address and telephone number of your host.
  • While in Mexico, holders of a Mexican tourist visa are allowed to attend festivals and other social events.
  • You will have to prove that you are financially capable to support yourself during your stay in Mexico. You are expected to provide your bank or credit card statements at Embassy.
  • Foreigners who intend to travel to Mexico are expected to have USD 50 per day for their expenses during their stay in Mexico.
  • Tourists are not allowed to undertake voluntary (including human rights) work, or activity, or any form of paid employment
  • An original copy of your round-trip or tour ticket is required.
  • Cameroonians whose intentions is to visit Mexico  are required to present a letter from their current employer stating they were  aware of  their leave. Their position in the company, the term of their employment, and the duration of their leave must be stated in the letter.
  • Minors are expected to provide an original copy of their birth certificate to Embassy Consulate. However, a letter of consent signed by both their parents is also required if they are to travel without their parents.
  • A proof of family ties or a stable job in the applicant's home country which serves as evidence or an incentive of your intended return to your home country. 
  • Travelers are advised to be vaccinated against yellow fever and malaria before traveling to Mexico.
  •  Travelers who overstay their visas are fined or banned from entering Mexico. They are expected to leave whem their tourist visa expires. 
  • The visa is extendable. You will have to visit any National Institute of Migration office or delegation to apply for an extension of your tourist migration form.
  • ALL foreign citizens travelling to Mexico are expected to fill out an Official Entry Immigration Form (FMM) prior to their arrival to Mexico.
  • Those who wish to apply for an extension are expected to apply 30 days before expiry date. 
  • Travelers are advised to apply for a tourist visa at least 4 weeks in advance of their planned travel date so that there is enough time for the application procedure to be completed on time. 
  • The processing time takes about 2 days to 21 days. 

Mexico Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Mexico business visa is meant for Cameroonians visiting Mexico to engage in various business activities.
  • With this visa, travelers can attend business meetings and conferences, sign and negotiate business contracts with partner companies while in the country.
  • One of the requirements is a passport with a six months validity. 
  • Holders of this visa who wish to attend business conferences in Mexico are  to register for the conference before they leave Cameroon. The certificate of registration should be submitted with the other necessary documents required.
  • If you were invited by a Mexican company, you are to submit a letter of invitation written on the company’s letterhead. The letter should state the duration and purpose of your visit to Mexico.
  • The letter from your company indicating that you are an employee and that the services you will provide in Mexico should be written in Spanish. If your expenses during the duration of your stay will be sponsored by the company, it should be stated in the letter. 
  • Your Cameroonian resident card must be provided. Non-citizens are expected to provide a copy of their stay permit.
  • Minors should ensure the original copy of their birth certificate is submitted with the other required documents. A letter of consent signed by both their parents is also required.
  • While in Mexico with this visa you are not to be paid for the services you render or any work you take up.
  •  At the expiration of your visa, you are expected to leave Mexico.
  • Only permanent residents of the United States or Canada, can embark on business trips to Mexico for less than 30 days using the FMVC form. The FMVC is the easiest manner to do business trips to Mexico.
  • You are expected to provide your income tax returns. 
  • While applying for a Mexico business visa you are expected to provide your salary's financial statements from the last six months. 

Mexico Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Foreign students who intend to take part-time or full-time courses in any Mexican higher institutions are eligible for this visa.
  • Before you apply for this visa, you should ensure you have been offered admission into one of the recognized institution  in Mexico. 
  • Scholarship recipients are expected to present the scholarship letter from the institution, stating the exact amount of the scholarship and the tuition it covers. 
  • The original admission letter written on the school’s letterhead should be provided. This proves that you have been offered admission into the school and you can attend classes.
  • You are to provide the Embassy consulate with your bank account statements to prove that you have sufficient funds for your study in Mexico.
  • Previous Certificates and transcripts from schools attended in the past are to be submitted during the visa application process.
  • A proof of your paid the tuition fee for your particular program of study is to be provided.
  • Cameroonian students are allowed to work part-time for 20 hours per week when school is in session and full-time when the school is on break.
  • If you are a minor, the original copy of your birth certificate should be made available. Also, a notarized letter of consent signed by both your parents should be provided.
  • The Mexico student visa is  extendable. But it extension is  to cover the duration of your study program during the duration of your stay in Mexico.
  • Cameroonians can obtain a temporary resident card while they are  in Mexico.
  • You expected to provide an international certificate of vaccination. So before you gain entry, you must have be vaccinated against yellow fever.
  • Students who will be in Mexico for less than 180 days can gain entry into Mexico with a tourist card, which has a maximum duration of 180 days. 

Mexico Transit Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Those who apply for this visa, want to board a connecting flight from Mexico to their destination country.
  • A visa is not actually required to transit through Mexico on the way to another destination, as long as the connection time does not exceed 24 hours .
  • If the applicant intends to board a flight without intermediate stops within Mexican territory, he/she must have a Mexican transit visa. 
  • You are expected to submit a valid passport before you gain entry into Mexico.
  • The Mexican visa can be extended but not beyond 30 days
