Basic Travel Requirements for Egyptians visiting Guatemala

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Guatemalan Visa.

  • A completed and signed visa application form.
  • Two recently taken passport photos within the last three months and must follow the visa photo requirements.
  • A valid passport not older than 10 years and should be valid for at least three more months beyond the exit date from Guatemala.
  • Older passports with visas on them should be attached as well.
  • Round trip reservation or itinerary must include dates and flight numbers specifying entry and exit from Guatemala. 
  • A travel insurance policy that proves that you have travel health insurance for your entire stay in Guatemala, with a minimum coverage of 30,000 Euros in case of any medical emergency.
  • Proof of accommodation which could be a hotel/hostel booking, a rental agreement, or a letter of invitation from your host in Guatemala.
  • A bank statement showing that you have enough money in your account for the trip. The statement should not be older than 3 months.
  • Sponsorship letter by another person that confirms that they will be financially supporting your trip to Guatemala and it should be accompanied by a bank statement of the sponsor. 
  • A combination of your own bank account statement and a letter of sponsorship.
  • Proof of paid visa fee of €60 for adults and €35 for children from 6 to 12 years old.

Foreigners traveling to the country are expected to declare any amount of cash exceeding $10,000 on entry to and exit from the country. Avoid any drug-related offense as there are very severe penalties as regards this.

Guatemala Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This visa is for people who are going to Guatemala for business purposes.
  • Applicants of this visa can also attend seminars and lectures while in Guatemala.
  • To apply for this visa, you will need a cover letter explaining the purpose of your visit to Guatemala.
  • A short profile of the applicant's workplace is required.
  • A letter from your employer meticulously describing the purpose of the travel as well as the itinerary of the days to be spent within Guatemala should be provided.
  • An invitation letter written by the partner company in Guatemala and also faxed to the corresponding consulate or embassy is needed. This letter has to appear as an invitation to attend meetings or other relevant events matching trade, industry or work.
  • Proof of financial means stated either in the employer’s letter or the partner company’s invitation must be provided. This letter must show that one of both parties will be covering the applicant’s travel expenses. 
  • If there were previous trade relations between the two companies, a proof of such is expected. 
  • An employer must provide an employment contract, current bank statement for the last 6 months, leave permission from the employer, Income Tax Return (ITR) form or Certificate of Income Tax deducted at the source of salary.
  • Self-employed applicants are to provide a copy of their business license, company bank statement for the latest 6 months.

Guatemala Medical Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This visa is for those intending to seek and receive medical services in Guatemala
  • A letter is required from a doctor/clinic/hospital in Egypt stating why the applicant needs the medical treatment and why such treatment cannot be gotten in Egypt.
  • Official confirmation of the treatment/appointment by the receiving medical institution (hospital/clinic) in Guatemala should be provided.
  • Proof of financial means including bank statements, letter of sponsorship and bank statements of the sponsor is required from the applicant.
  • Proof of advance payments of the treatment and bank statements for other related expenses should be included as well.
  • A verbal note is required from the Egyptian Ministry of Health which must declare their readiness to cover applicant's medical treatment costs if they are unable to cover their fees.

Guatemala Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This visa type is for those who have been offered admission into any institution of learning  in Guatemala
  • An enrollment certificate at your institution with the registration of all the courses you will be taking must be submitted.
  • A NOC(No Objection Certificate)from the institution you are currently attending in Egypt should be provided.
  • A copy of your admission letter forwarded to you by the Guatemalan school is required.
  • As a foreign student in Guatemala, you are not allowed to take up any form of employment.
  • If the applicant is a minor, parents/guardians will have to address a letter to the Guatemalan embassy/consulate in Egypt stating that they are in support of your travel.
  • You are to exit Guatemala on or before the expiration of your visa.
  • If you wish to remain in Guatemala after your program has ended, you will have to apply for a residence permit.

Guatemala Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This visa type is for Egyptians who are traveling to Guatemala for sightseeing and tourism purposes.
  • If you will be covering your travel expenses as an applicant, you will need to provide proof of your financial status.
  • If your relative/friend is to cover your expenses, they are to submit a legal document to the embassy stating that they will be responsible for your traveling and entire stay in Guatemala.
  • A letter of Invitation written by your relative or friend residing in Guatemala which must contain their house address, contacts at home and at work and their passport will also be requested.
  • If the host is not a citizen of Guatemala, a copy of their residency permit is to be submitted along with the invitation letter.
  • A copy of the applicant's bank statement for the last 6 months is required.
  • An affidavit of support is to be provided in cases where one does not have a bank account or does not own enough funds to take care of their expenses during this travel, one must ask the visiting friends or relatives to sign an “official affidavit of support” at the corresponding office in his/her place of residence. Make sure you carry the original document when applying for the visa.
  • A description of your trip, the purpose, duration and date of your entry into and exit from Guatemala, as well as hotel reservations,  must be submitted.
