Israel, the only Jewish country in the world has its capital city in the city of Jerusalem. There is generally a low crime rate in Israel, however it is advised to the high risk regions of West Bank and Gaza. The safest areas to visit is Bethlehem, Jericho and Ramallah.

The mountain fortress of Masada was where 1000 Jewish inhabitants committed mass suicide rather than surrender to their Roman enemies. You can take a walk up the Snake Path to the top of Masada if you’re feeling adventurous, otherwise take the cable car or try walking the Roman ramp from the Western side.
