Basic Travel Requirements for Liberians visiting Malaysia

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Malaysian Visa.

  • A Liberian passport is valid for at least 6 months from the intended arrival date or beyond intended stay. 
  •  One or two blank pages are required for the entry stamp. 
  • A fully completed visa application form.
  • Passports with Israeli stamps are not allowed entry. 
  • Three passport-size photographs (50 x 3.5 cm) taken on a white background.
  • The travel document must be completely provided.
  • Proof of financial capability.
  • Proof of accommodation or hotel reservations.
  • A copy of return or onward flight ticket. 
  • Documentation showing the applicant’s ties to the home country.
  • A police report showing the traveler does not have a criminal record.
  • Certificate of yellow fever vaccination. 
  • Documentation confirming the purpose of travel.
  • Copy of travel itinerary.

Malaysia Visitor Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Malaysian visitor visa is issued to Liberians who plan to visit Malaysia for a short period of time.
  • Liberians who plan to visit Malaysia for sightseeing and recreational activities are eligible for this visa.
  • This type of visa is sub-divided into single or multiple entry visas. 
  • The single-entry visa is valid for a maximum of 90 days and allows only one entry into Malaysia.
  • The multiple-entry visa is valid for more than 90 days or 180 days from the date of issuance and allows as many entries as possible within the validity period.
  • Proof of sufficient funds must be provided during the visa application.
  • A confirmed return ticket to your home country must be provided.
  • All visa applications are reviewed by the Government of Malaysia before decision is made.
  • Visa with reference is a  visa issued after the application is being referred and approved by the Department of Immigration Malaysia / Other Agencies of Authority. Visa without reference is a visa issued after approval by the High Commission of Malaysia. 
  • Visa with reference is required for students, those seeking employment, dependents, and professionals on a visit pass. 
  • Visa without reference is required for the purpose of a social visit.
  • The Malaysian visitor visa can be extended while in Malaysia.
  • The immigration counter at the entry point has the absolute authority to decide whether or not travelers can enter Malaysia. Permission to enter and remain in Malaysia is at the decision and discretion of the Malaysian Immigration Department.
  • You are advised to exit the country on or before your visa expires.
  • All documents submitted must be original and certified copies.
  • Tour groups are not eligible to apply for a Multiple Entry Visa.

Malaysia Work Visa Eligibility & Requirements

    • Malaysia's work permits are issued to Liberians who intend to work in Malaysia.
    • The validity of the work permit is between 6 months to 5 years. 
    • Work permits can be in the form of either long-duration employment passes, temporary employment passes or professional visit passes granted to foreigners.
    • A Malaysian work visa is subdivided into employer pass, temporary employment pass, and professional visit pass.   
    • The Employment Pass is issued to employees with specific skills, which are usually for technical or managerial jobs. The duration of stay with this type of pass is two(2) years.
    • The Temporary Employment Pass is issued for employment for less than 2 years.
    • The Professional Visit Pass is issued to foreigners who were employed by the company in their home country but are required by the  Malaysian company to provide certain services for a period of up to 6 months.
    • A passport valid for at least 6 months after entry into Malaysia, with at least three blank pages, is required. 
    • A Letter of Approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs in Malaysia must be provided.
    • An approved medical report of the applicant should be submitted with other documents.
    • Applicants can attach a Letter of Recommendation from a relevant company or agency in Malaysia. Documents relating to the applicant's sponsor should also be submitted. 
    • You are to provide copies of their educational qualifications and Curriculum Vitae during the visa application.
    • Employees and their families coming to Malaysia, who have not obtained work permits before arrival,l are allowed to enter the country on social passes and to obtain the work permit afterward.

    Malaysia Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements

    • The Malaysia student visa is issued to Liberians planning to travel to Malaysia for study purposes.
    • To apply for a student visa, you will first need a support letter from the country's  Ministry of Education.
    • Student visas for Malaysia are part of the Visa with Reference types that need inquiry before they are applied for.
    • Inquiries are made by the Immigration Department of Malaysia.
    • Applicants are required to submit their Offer or Acceptance Letter from the educational institute where they plan to pursue their education.
    • Students who wish to transfer to a university or college will need a release letter from their previously attended university or college, as well as their attendance reports and academic performance reports.
    • To be eligible for a Malaysian student visa, you will first need to apply for a Student Pass. Once you have an approved provisional Student Pass you will be issued a student visa upon your point of entry into Malaysia. You will receive a full Student Pass once in the country.
    • Once you have been accepted by a Malaysian institution, they will submit an application for a Student Pass on your behalf.
    • Proof of purchase of Malaysian health insurance has to be submitted by the applicant.
    • All documents submitted must be original and certified copies.
