Basic Travel Requirements for Liberians visiting Portugal
Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Portuguese Visa.
- Duly signed completely visa form.
- 2 photos must be attached; the photo should be of passport format, a recent whole-face capture with a light background.
- Your passport and copies of your previous visas valid for at least 3 months beyond return date are required.
- Your passport must have at least two blank pages.
- Copy of your return-ticket reservation.
- Schengen travel insurance confirmation of minimum 30,000 € coverage within Portugal and the entire Schengen area.
- A cover letter stating the purpose of visit to Portugal and itinerary
- Booked flight itinerary with dates and flight numbers specifying entry and exit from Portugal.

- The Portuguese tourist visa is issued to Liberians traveling to Portugal for tourism purposes.
- The Portuguese tourist visa is a short-stay visa valid for a period of 3 months.

- You are to provide your bank statements for the last 6 months to prove you are financially capable to make the trip.

- Memorandum and Article of Association in original certified copy (registered with joint-stock companies), as well as a trade license, may be asked.
- If you are employed, you will have to present a certificate from your employer stating and allowing your business travel.
- A letter from the applicant’s employer in Liberia stating the applicant’s job position, salary level and length of employment should be provided.
- Proof of previous business dealings between the host company and the sponsoring company should be provided.
- Regarding the applicant’s expenses during the stay in the Schengen zone, either the employer or the partner company must state coverage of expenses on the letter of invitation.
- If you will be attending a conference while you are in Portugal, proof of registration and payment for the conference is required.
- If self-employed, you must provide the following:
- A copy of your business license
- Your company's bank statement from the latest 6 months
- Income Tax Return (ITR).
- You cannot be gainfully employed while you are in the country with this visa.
- This visa allows foreign nationals to attend and participate in trade fairs, conferences, and business seminars in the country.
Portugal Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- This visa is issued to Liberians who have the intention of studying in a school in Portugal.
- Before applying for this visa, you must have been accepted into your school or university of your choice in Portugal.
- A residence permit will need to be applied for upon arriving in Portugal from the Portuguese Immigration and Borders Service (SEF).
- A letter of admission from the institution you have been accepted into is required. This is proof that you can attend lectures and write exams at the school.
- You are expected to get a residence permit within three months of arriving in Portugal which will then be valid for one year.
- Certificates and transcripts of the schools you previously attended should be provided during the visa application.
