Basic Travel Requirements for Liberians visiting Sweden
Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Swedish Visa.
- Fully completed and signed the visa form.
- 2 photos must be attached; the photo should be of passport format – a recent whole-face capture with a light background.
- Your passport and copies of your previous visas – valid for at least 3 months beyond return date are required. Your passport must have at least two blank pages.
- A copy of your return-ticket reservation.
- Travel health insurance confirmation of minimum €30,000 coverage within Sweden and the entire Schengen area.
- A cover letter stating the purpose of visit to Sweden and itinerary.
- Flight ticket reservation with dates and flight numbers specifying entry and exit from Sweden
- Hotel booking reservation for the whole duration of the intended stay in Sweden
- Proof of civil status (marriage certificate, birth certificate of children, death certificate of spouse, ration card if applicable)
- Proof of sufficient financial means for the period of stay in Sweden.
- Documentation showing applicant’s ties to the home country, e.g. verification from the applicant’s employer.
- A police report showing the traveler does not have a criminal.

Sweden Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- This visa is issued to Liberians intending to visit Sweden for tourism purposes, sightseeing and recreational activities.
- Foreigners on this visa can also visit their friends and family who are permanent residents in the country.
- If employed, you are to present a letter from your employer. The letter should state the relationship between the applicant and the host and should also contain the valid contact information of the host.
- You must provide proof of health insurance with total coverage of at least 30,000 euros.
- A foreigner who seeks to enter the territory of Sweden must be able to attest possessing 450 SEK or 48.26 euros for each day of their stay in Sweden.
- Proof of accommodation such as a hotel booking must be provided.
- Non-Liberians are to provide a valid liberian resident permit during the visa application.
- A cover letter stating the reasons such as the reason for the visit, funding information, detailed itinerary and the clear intent that you will return to Kenya once your holidays are over.
- The Sweden tourist visa is issued on a single and multiple entry bases.
- If you received a decision about your application you are not satisfied with, you can submit a written appeal no later than 3 weeks from the day you received the decision. In your appeal, write down which decision you are not satisfied with, and why and how you want it to be changed.
- This appeal should be submitted directly to the Swedish embassy or consulate handling the application.
- Liberians in the country can attend festivals and events during their trip.
- All the documents to be submitted must be original and certified copies.
Sweden Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- The Sweden business visa is issued to applicants who intend to visit Sweden for business purposes.
- An official invitation letter from the inviting company in Sweden should be submitted. This letter must be written on an official company paper, stamped and signed and must contain the following information:
- The full address and contacts of the company
- Name and position of the countersigning officer
- Purpose and duration of the visit
- Person or entity that will bear the travel and living costs and whether the sponsor gives a financial guarantee for the visa applicants' return to Liberia.
- A certificate of employment specifying the date of recruitment, position in the company, salary level, the purpose of the travel and confirmation of leave is needed.
- An original bank statement for the past 6 months and proof of the other assets have to be provided.
- A round trip ticket reservation or primary reservation (hotel booking confirmation or proof of accommodation) is mandatory.
- A travel medical insurance covering the entire period of the intended stay, valid for all Schengen States must be submitted. The minimum coverage of this insurance is 30.000 euros.
- A letter from the applicant’s employer in Liberia confirming awareness and allowance of the business leave is required. The letter must contain the contact information of the company, applicant’s job position, salary level, and duration of the visit.
- Non-Liberians should provide a copy of a valid residence permit during the visa application process.
- Foreigners on this visa cannot take up paid or unpaid employment during their time in the country.
Sweden Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- For students applying to longer stays, you would be provided with compulsory health insurance when you reach Sweden.
- You must provide a cover letter stating why you have chosen Sweden as the country for your studies.
- Proof of financial capacity which means that you have the funds to pay for the course you are enrolled in as well as to support your stay in the country will be asked.
- Applicants need an enrolment letter from a University in Sweden that clearly states the duration of the course and that you have paid (in full) the first installment of the fees.
- If you are applying for the long-stay visa, you are required to also apply for a residence permit.
- If you are the recipient of a scholarship, student aid or similar grant, you are required to provide documents supporting this, showing your name, the monthly amount you are entitled to and the period during which you will receive the fund.
- Non-Liberians applying for this visa should provide their Liberian resident permit.
- You must provide certificates and transcripts gotten from the previous schools you attended.
- In order to study in Sweden, you must have a resident permit. You should apply for this as soon as you arrive in the country.
- To be eligible for a residence permit, you must possess a letter of admission from the institution that has offered you admission.
Sweden Work Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- The employment contract signed by both the employer and employee should be provided.
- The letter should state the terms of employment and the description of the job the applicant has been offered.
- To qualify for a work permit, you must have received an official offer of employment from a Swedish employer. The job must also:
- have been advertised in the EU/EEA for at least ten days
- offer terms of employment that match those set by Swedish collective agreements or those that are customary within the occupation or industry
- pay a minimum monthly salary of SEK 13,000 before taxes.
- A letter from your employer confirming your employment in Sweden should be provided.
- The company’s address and your job description should be stated in the letter.
- Proof that you will not be paid below the minimum wage by your employer should be provided.
- Foreigners in the country are expected to abide by all the rules guiding their visas.
- You are expected to leave the country on or before this visa expires.
- A copy of your resume or updated CV containing the list of all your professional skills will be asked.
