Denmark Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Danish tourist visa is available to citizens of Swaziland looking to travel to Denmark for tourism or leisure.
  • Denmark is part of the Schengen countries, so you can apply for a Schengen visa.
  • The Danish tourist visa is valid for 90 days.
  • Travel health insurance confirmation of a minimum of 30,000 euros coverage must be provided.
  • The currency restriction for entry into and exit out of Denmark is 10,000 euros.
  • Applicants must provide a flight Itinerary. This must show dates of entry and exit out of Denmark, flight numbers and places to be visited.

  • Swazis traveling to Denmark with the intention of studying in any of the educational institutions in the country can apply for the Danish student visa.
  • There are two types of Danish student visa:
    • Short-term study visa - This visa is for foreigners intending to study for three months or less.
    • Long-term study visa - This visa is for foreigners intending to study for more than three months.
  • Students are required to provide proof of sufficient funds to cater for their living costs in Denmark.
  • Students should have around 1000 euros per month to cover their monthly expenses.
  • Before a student visa application can be considered, you must be able to produce documentary evidence that you have paid the tuition fees to cover the first semester year.  
  • The long-term study visa permits student to work part-time in Denmark for a maximum of 20 hours per week. 
  • An acceptance letter from your university or study institution must be provided.
  • Proof of language proficiency in English or Danish, depending on which language you are undertaking your studies in must be provided.
  • You will also need to obtain a certificate from the police station to prove that you have not committed any offense nor have any pending criminal record in your country before traveling.

  • The Danish work visa is available to Swazis traveling to Denmark for the purpose of employment.
  • If you are coming to work in a role which is paid significantly above the average wage, or for an employer who has been approved by the government as an international recruiter, you can apply for this visa.
  • All applicants are required to give biometric data, including photographs and fingerprints during the visa application process.
  • Once you apply for the Danish work visa, you are required to apply for a residence permit.
  • As soon as you arrive in the country, you are advised to register your stay at the nearest police station.
  • It is your own responsibility to obtain a work permit if you are required to. If you work illegally in Denmark, you risk deportation and you and your employer risk fine or imprisonment.
  • The Danish government has a 'positive list' that consists of professions and sectors which are currently experiencing a shortage of qualified and skilled professionals.
  • People with a job in any of these sectors have easy access to the Danish labor market. The job offer letter should specify the salary and employment conditions.
  • The minimum educational level required for a position on the positive list is a professional bachelor's degree.
  • Job offers are required to carry a gross annual pay of no less than DKK 375,000.
