Basic Travel Requirements for Swazis visiting Sweden

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Swedish Visa.


    • Fully completed and signed visa application form.
    • Two recently taken passport-sized photographs (3.5x4.5cm) that meet the visa photo requirements.
    • An original Eswatini passport not older than 10 years, with at least three months validity beyond the date you plan to leave Sweden. Your passport must have at least 2 blank pages for visas.
      • A round trip reservation that shows entry and exit dates.
      • A valid travel insurance policy with a minimum coverage of €30,000 in case of any medical emergency such as illnesses, accidents and even repatriation in case of death.
      • For minors traveling alone, the application form must be signed by the parents/legal guardians accompanied by a signed consent form.  
      • Minors are also required to present their original birth certificate as well as a valid means of identification of their parents.
      • For Non-Swazis, a valid residence permit to prove residence in Eswatini is required.
      • A document that shows where you will be accommodated throughout your stay in Sweden.
      • Letter of invitation from a host if you intend to stay with the host in Sweden.
      • Evidence that you have enough money to support yourself financially throughout your stay in Sweden.
      • Documentation proving status in Eswatini either as an employee, student or business owner.
      • A cover letter detailing the purpose, duration and any other necessary information about the trip.
      • Proof of paid visa fee. 
      • Visa applications for Sweden cannot go through the consulate in Mbabane, you'll have to apply for the visa from the embassy in Pretoria, South Africa.

Travelers are advised to be cautious at night, particularly on weekend nights when people hit the streets to drink, get drunk, and in some unfortunate cases look for trouble. Some areas in the bigger cities might be less safe than others, eg. Rinkeby in Stockholm, with violent crimes and robberies being more and more common. Walking alone at night in these areas is not recommended.
